Colin James has a new album out titled, Chasing The Sun, released on the Stony Plain Records label, which features 7 great songs co-written by Colin James, and 4 songs written by the multi-talented Lucinda Gayl Williams, who wrote and lends her incredible vocals on the opening track, Protection, Paul Butterfield’s In My Own Dream, Devilment written by Colin Linden and Paul Reddick, and the John Hammond song, Come To Find Out.

Colin James – Chasing The Sun was produced and arranged by Colin James and Colin Linden and released on the Stony Plain Records label.
The 11-track Colin James – Chasing The Sun release opens with Lucinda Gayl Williams’ song, Protection, which has a kick-up drum intro. Besides writing the song, Lucinda also lends her incredible vocals on this one.
Next on the play list is I’m Still Alive, written by the team of Colin James, Tom Wilson, Thompson Wilson, and Jessie O’Brien, which takes it slow and sultry with some great guitar instrumentals. The McCrary sisters, Ana and Regina lend their voices as back-up vocals to complement Colin James’ vocals.
Devilment written by Colin Linden and Paul Reddick is in the number three spot in the line-up and picks up the pace. Charlie Musselwhite layers in some fine harmonica accents throughout. Crystal Ball written by Colin James and Colin Linden slows the pace into the mellow, and continues that mellow groove with the next song, How It Feels To Be Loved written by Colin James, Tom Wilson, and Jesse O’Brien.
Star Studded Sky written by the team of Colin James, Tom Wilson, Colin Macdonald, John Angus Macdonald, Thompson Wilson, and Jesse O’Brien, brings out the guitars on this one with Colin James on electric guitars, Colin Linden on electric and acoustic guitars, and Darryl Jones on bass. Charley Drayton works his magic on drums and percussion, and Janice Powers layers in the B3 Organ and keyboards.
Too Far Gone is another favorite on the release as the instrumental opening is a stroke of genius. Colin James, Colin Linden, Darryl Jones, and Charley Drayton are joined by Michael Hicks on B3 Organ, and Ruby Amanfu adds harmony vocals to Colin James’.
Paul Butterfield wrote the song, In My Own Dream, with the trio of Colin James on acoustic guitar and electric manditar, and vocals, Colin Linden on 12-string guitar, bass, and electric guitar, and Janice Powers on keyboards. Listen for the manditar with its unique sound on this one.
The release closes with This Song Kills Hate, Come To Find Out with Charlie Musselwhite laying in some fabulous harmonica, and deftly closes with the Colin James and Tom Wilson song, Open Your Mind.
