Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018

Luigi Bosca De Sangre cabernet Franc 2018

Summer and juicy steaks and the burgers on the grill, rich tomato-based dishes, and cheeses pair especially well with Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018. We loved the depth and complexity of this dry red wine with its deep purple color with dark fruit and spices notes, and lusciously lingering finish. With 14.4% alcohol, Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018 is a rich, bold and powerhouse of a wine perfect to drink now or cellar for a few years…that is if you can wait that long. Cheers!

Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018

(Debra) first "discovered" Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018 during World Malbec Day 2022 in late April 2022 hosted by the Argentine Consulate in New York and Wines of Argentina, and was happy to make its acquaintance. While "new" to us, the award-winning Bodega Luigi Bosca was founded in 1901 by the Arizu family in Mendoza, Argentina. Their estate encompasses over 1,300 acres that range from 2,500 to 4,000 feet in elevation. Inspired by the tasting at World Malbec Day 2022, we did a leisurely tasting at home with a culinary pairing to fully appreciate all the delectable nuances of the Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018.

Bodega Luigi Bosca notes, "De Sangre is the name the winery has given to a selection of outstanding wines that are meant to be shared with loved ones. This heart-felt tradition has remained uninterrupted for over a century."

Bottle Notes: "De Sangre is the name the winery has given to those outstanding blends that are meant to be shared with loved ones; a tradition that has remained uninterrupted in Argentina for over a century. This Cabernet Franc was made from select vineyard plots from our Finca El Paraíso in the Maipú region. The loamy-sandy soil of this terroir, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, creates a compact, elegant, and roundly textured wine, which seeks to reflect the innovative history and knowledge acquired by the Arizu family over the last 120 years in Mendoza. This wine has been jointly created by engineer and 3rd generation family member, Alberto Arizu and winemaker, Pablo Cúneo."

Tasting Notes: The color is a rich, deep, regal purple. On the nose there are aromas of dark black fruit and spices that follow through on the palate. Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018

Is made from 100% cabernet franc grapes, which are black-skinned grapes which give the wine its rich, deep color, and intense and luscious flavors. The wine has a rounded and balanced mouthfeel, with a lasting and lingering, slightly spicy, peppery finish.

Pairing Notes: Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018 pairs exceptionally well with beef dishes, including grilled steaks, roasts, and burgers, yet it is also an admirably companion to pair with tomato-based dishes, as well as cheeses.

We paired Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018 with homemade Eggplant Parmesan with a rich homemade marinara sauce and layers of melted cheese, and the result was delicious. The wine was powerful and bold enough to hold its own, yet companionable enough to celebrate, rather than compete, with the flavors of the marinara sauce in this eggplant dish.

Whether you opt to drink Luigi Bosca De Sangre Cabernet Franc 2018 on its own, or pair with food, it will be a delicious selection. You might even like to pick up a bottle or two to drink now, and then cellar a few to experience the full potential of this delectable wine.

Until next time, cheers!
