Bryn Mawr 2023 Chardonnay Reserve

If you love Chardonnay, you will definitely want to try Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2023 Chardonnay Reserve  from the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Founded in 2010 and family owned and run by Jon and Kathy Lauer, with Rachel Rose as the Winemaker, Bryn Mawr Vineyards consistently craft well-curated, “forward-thinking” and lovingly crafted world-class wines. The 2023 Chardonnay Reserve has lemony, ginger, and verbena notes that begin on the nose and elegantly finish on the palate. This is a stunning wine that will pair well with a variety of food. We paired it with our recipe for Luxury Experience – Walnut-Crusted Chicken Breast stuffed with Mushrooms and Shallots, which brought out the delectable nuances of the wine. Look for the distinctive black and silver label on the front of the bottle. Cheers!

Bottle Notes: “High Hill. High Risk. High Reward. Jon Lauer, Owner, Rachel Rose, Winemaker, Kathy Lauer, Owner.”

Technical Notes: “When we label a bottle as “Reserve,” it must meet strict criteria. These wines must exhibit exceptional persistence, layered complexity, and coiled tension needed to support extended aging. Our Reserve tier represents the pinnacle of Bryn Mawr – a blend of our finest barrels, worthy of the prestigious black label.”

Tasting Notes: The light straw color attracts the eyes, then entices you to give the glass a swirl and are rewarded with elegant lemony, ginger, and verbena notes on the nose, than gracefully follow on the palate for an elegant and memorable finish.

Pairing Suggestion: Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2023 Chardonnay Reserve pairs well with a variety of food. We paired this delectable wine with our recipe for Luxury Experience – Walnut-Crusted Chicken Breast stuffed with Mushrooms and Shallots. Accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and drizzled with homemade gravy, this was an irresistible pairing.

Luxury Experience – Walnut-Crusted Chicken Breast stuffed with Mushrooms and Shallots
Yield: 2 Servings
Ingredients:

2
Large
Chicken Breasts, boneless, skinless
0.3
Cup
Walnuts, finely chopped
0.3
Cup
Seasoned Italian Breadcrumbs
Mayonnaise
1
Teaspoon
Fresh Sage Leaves, finely chopped
1
Cup
Mushrooms, finely chopped
0.25
Cup
Shallots, finely chopped
2
Tablespoon
Butter, room temperature
Salt, Pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit/204 degrees Celsius.

Method: Mix mushrooms, shallots, sage, salt, pepper, and butter together. Make a slit in each of the chicken breasts to create a pouch, do not cut all the way through. Divide the filling and insert it into the pouch.

Coat chicken breasts with mayonnaise then coat them completely with a mixture of chopped walnuts and seasoned Italian breadcrumbs.

Spray baking dish with olive oil, carefully place the coated chicken breasts, lightly spray with olive oil, and bake until cooked through, 30-40 minutes, depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts.

Serving Suggestion: Pair with homemade creamy mashed potatoes, and homemade gravy made with pan juices, 1 cup of chicken bouillon and 1 teaspoon corn starch. Boil gravy until thickened. Garnish with fresh sage leaves and a scallion “chrysanthemum” if desired.

Until next time, cheers!

About Bryn Mawr Vineyards

“Bryn Mawr was founded in 2010 by Jon and Kathy Lauer and is a family-owned and family-run estate in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.”

“Our family purchased Bryn Mawr Vineyards as a tiny garagiste winery in 2009. With a four-acre foundation of established Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Tempranillo vines, we partnered with winemaker Rachel Rose to diversify the site, adding Pinot Blanc, Dolcetto, and Riesling vines among many new clones of the regional standards.”

“For the first eight vintages, Rachel made wine in our basement and a former wedding tent. In 2019, we completed our new winery building, followed by a new tasting room in 2019. Our contemporary facilities have allowed us to bloom into a premier operation, with a diverse array of impressive wines offered in visually stunning surroundings. In 2020, we gained LIVE certification, demonstrating our commitment to long-term sustainability both in the vineyard and in our cellar. The last decade has brought national recognition for Bryn Mawr’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay programs, but it’s Rachel’s progressive and experimental side has made us a destination. Acting as an important bridge, Bryn Mawr honors the classic wines that make the Willamette Valley world-renowned, while also pushing the envelope defining what’s possible in our future.”
