The Homestead Madison Bed & Breakfast
We stayed at The Homestead Madison from Friday, July 14 until Sunday, July 16, 2023, where gracious hospitality awaited and each guestroom was unique and elegantly appointed. We stayed in Room 6, located on the first floor, which was a light filled room with an attractive high headboard Queen bed with a Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress dressed in luxurious 1,000-thread count sheets, a duvet, blue throw, and a plethora of pillows to ensure sweet dreams. Nightstands flanked the bed and held reading lamps and a USB port charger block to accommodate US plugs as well as European converters. The large closet held a mini-refrigerator, iron, and an ironing board.
Guest Room
A large bureau with a large mirror held an LED flatscreen television, a drop-leaf table with a table lamp, and electric candles with two chairs were placed in front of a window and provided the perfect spot to enjoy a snack, a cup of coffee, or work on our laptop. A painting graced the wall to add charm to the bedroom, and a stained-glass ceiling fixture added ambience to the foyer.
An incredibly special in-room amenity was a vintage record player with a selection of vinyl albums for us to play and enjoy during our stay. Chosen for our stay were Barry White – Rhapsody In White, The Love Unlimited Orchestra, The Best of Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder – Music Of My Mind, Billy Joel – 52nd Street, Billy Joel – Streetlife Serenade, Steely Dan – Aja, and The Beatles – Help! When we wanted to listen to different selections, we were able to select additional vinyl albums from the crates in the sunroom, which held a wide variety of genres to appeal to diverse musical interests.
Selection of music to enjoy
The spacious bathroom featured a walk-in double stall shower with a Spa effect high-pressure shower head infused with vitamin C and E, luxurious bath towels, and special Mordeer bidet toilet seat. Other amenities included an assortment of Poggesi toiletries from Italy, a lighted shaving/vanity mirror, and a hairdryer.
Room 6 also has the advantage of having its own private entrance where two Adirondack chairs and an umbrella were at our disposal for a morning or afternoon outdoor nap, or to simply relax, or read a book. For guests who like to travel with their pets, The Homestead Madison has three pet-friendly rooms (Room 6 is one of them) for dogs under 30 pounds, making it a lovely getaway with your fur-baby.
Dining Room
We started each day of our stay in their attractive dining room enjoying their sumptuous, complimentary breakfast, which included a selection of yogurts, a choice of hot or cold breakfast cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, croissants, a selection of muffins, and two choices of quiches. Beverages included juices, a selection of teas, lattes, cappuccinos, coffees, and espressos, and a diverse selection of milk, Half & Half, oat milk, almond milk, and more to accompany them.

The Homestead Madison provides thoughtful little extras to indulge their guests including complimentary afternoon snacks of fruit, chips, nuts, and freshly made popcorn in their vintage popcorn machine. Later in the day guests could indulge in a selection of sweet treats or enjoy a glass of Taylor Fladgate 10-year-Old Tawny Porto in the evening.

Another benefit of staying there is that they provide their guests with the use of a complimentary day beach parking pass for enjoying one of the three nearby beaches. Guests also have the complimentary use of their bicycles, which include a tandem bicycle, which of course, we had to experience during our stay.
Antique view finder
The public areas of The Homestead Madison are graciously and comfortably furnished with a fireplace in the living room with a piano, guitar, and banjo for the musically inclined. A backgammon board on the coffee table invites a leisurely game or two, and local guidebooks provide information on exploring the area. The bookshelves overflow with a variety of books for guests to read, and everywhere one looks there is something interesting to look at including a table holding an antique manual typewriter and a black rotary telephone.
Sunroom
A visit to the light-filled sunroom where a skyscraping giraffe holds court near the French doors, is like visiting a museum or fabulous curio shop with its interesting collection of vintage cameras, books, vintage microphones, antique view finders, crates of vinyl albums, and objects d’art on display that invite conversation and closer inspection.
Special amenities and gracious hospitality make The Homestead Madison a standout, and wefound this attractive and welcoming Inn to be the perfect base for exploring the charming town of Madison and the surrounding areas. We cannot wait to return!
