The latest release from the multi-talented singer, songwriter Allison August is Allison August – August Moon, a compilation of twelve tracks with eleven original tracks written by Allison. She collaborated with a Who’s Who of musicians such as Grammy-winner Tony Braunagel, Paul Barrere of Little Feat, David J. Carpenter, Sugaray Rayford, Phil Parlapiano and more. After multiple years of energy to craft this release, interrupted by Covid, she persevered, and teamed up with Tony Braunagel to release Allison August – August Moon for your listening pleasure.

Allison August – August Moon – was produced by Grammy-winner, Tony Braunagel and released on the MoMoJo Records label. Allison is a fourth generation music aficionado and August Moon shows her cross genre influences from Country, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Rock and Roll, and more.
The release kicks off with the track, Afraid of Love, a Blues track that leads with a passional baseline and horn section and follows up with outstanding harmonies to accompany Allison’s vocals. She hugs the track and rings out resounding lyrics, “I’m afraid of love, when it comes down to it…..when push comes to shove, I’m afraid of love…”. The release follows up with the track Dashboard Madonna, a country ringing tune with accompaniment from Don Teschner on violin. Allison’s ability to segue from genre to genre is a testament to her musicianship and vocal prowess.
The track, I Won’t Say No, is a nice bridge on the release with an up-tempo Funk beat and has Allison sharing lead vocals with Sugaray Rayford. The track, What Would Mama Say, has a Jazzy overtone and carries well with Allison’s catchy lyrics and vocals, “…for God’s sake girl, put on a sweater….”.
A little R&B is carried through the track, Blue Eyed Boy, as well as great harmonies to accompany Allison’s vocals as she brings her vocal range down to project a sexy and breathy style. Honey Jar is a mix of genres from Blues, R&B, Pop, and a slice of Jazz to make this a standout track on the release. Allison switches it up with the Country / Rock based track, Desiree, a great track that shows off Allison’s poignant song writing and vocals.
Next up are the tracks, Dog In You and Blues Is My Religion two tracks that expand the vocal/genre span that Allison crafts with her writing and singing. The release closes with the tracks, The Cure, a catchy Bluesy track, I Ain’t Lyin’, a taste of a Calypso beat and a splash of beach spray in your face, and the closing song, Born Yesterday, with great lyrics that truly captures the essence of Allison August, “…I was born yesterday, but I been up all night…”.
