The latest release from Big Al and the Heavyweights – Blues Power is the eighth release of original music from this South Louisiana band. Featuring Marcel Anton, Dale Robertson, Dennis Cedeno, and Big Al Lauro, the band said they wanted to return to their original lineup of harmonica, bass, drums, and guitar, and they crafted a powerful Blues, Funk, and Louisiana vibe release.

Big Al and the Heavyweights – Blues Power – was Produced by Big Al and the Heavyweights, Engineered, Mixed, and Mastered by Geroge Cureau, Jr., Recorded at Suite Mix Studios, Slidell, LA, and released by VizzTone Label Group.
The release opens with the track, Big Freight Train, which uses the harmonica, select guitar licks and the locomotive drum beat to get the big freight train running strong with Marcel Anton’s vocals. The title track, Blues Power, brings out the slide guitar and a solid Blues base line as the band flexes their raw musicianship to cast a catchy track.
The release transitions to the poignant track, If, that leads with a series of heart tugging chords and rolls with Marcel’s deep and powerful Blues vocals accompanied by great harmonies. Red Line is a funky Louisiana vibe track that carries you into that high energy Louisiana feeling; get ready to get your dancing shoes out when you give this track a spin. The harmonica and guitar work is stellar and will capture your inner deep South Bayou vibe.
Changing up the tempo with the track, Tired of Waiting, carries a pounding Blues base line and a brassy harmonica against Marcel’s Bluesy lyrics, “I’m tired of waiting, tired of waiting on you…..you’re mean and miserable through and through.”
The track, Wasted So Much Time With You, is down and dirty Blues while the track, Got What I Like, is a Blues standard in pace, vocals and lyrics and will have you nodding your head in time with the song.
The release closes with the tracks, Good Bye, a solid track with catchy lyrics and great harmonica interludes, I Want To Know, a great track with powerful lyrics, and closes with the track, Fast Drivin’, a rousing and fast-paced track that says, “…drivin’ just as fast as I can, ….baby gotta go…..drivin’ just as fast as I can.” Get ready for great road trip music.
