For car enthusiasts, the Greenwich Concours is always a highlight of the late Spring season. Held in Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Connecticut, the Greenwich Concours 2024 provided visitors with 2-days to experience rare, exceptional, and supercars. On Saturday, June 1, 2024, it was the Concours de Sport with Cars of Greenwich Avenue, Racecars of Thompson Speedway, Morgans, Rally Cars, and much more, and on Sunday, June 2, 2024, it was the Concours d’Elegance, with a different set of cars to set car enthusiasts’ hearts racing with excitement. Here are a few of the many highlights of the Greenwich Concours – Concours de Sport.
Highlights by Classes
Callaway
1999 Callaway Corvette presented by R.G. Gundeck, Ridgewood, New Jersey. Interesting to note about this bright yellow Corvette is that “only 20 Callaway C12 road cars were ever produced. One of 20 road going examples based off of the C12.R – the car originally created to win the GT2 class at LeMans, earning pole position in 2001 over Ferrari, Porsche, and other marques.”
Cars of Greenwich Avenue
2004 Ferrari 360 with “Rosso Scuderia” exterior paint color presented by Greenwich Cars & Coffee, Greenwich, Connecticut.
2005 Porsche Carrera FT presented by Rolla, Greenwich, Connecticut. Interesting car notes: “This car has a long racing history and was the only V10 Porsche sold to the public. CGTs have a CD player.”
2015 Bugatti Grand Sport presented by David Reis, Greenwich, Connecticut. Interesting car notes: “One of 22 Grand Sport Vitesse made specifically for the US market. This car was the New York Auto Show display car.”
2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ presented by Jagdish Tewani, Greenwich, Connecticut.
2022 Ferrari 812 Competizione presented by RM Collection, New York, New York. Interesting car notes: “This will be the final version of the F12 introduced in 2012. Finished in Mexico Blu with Giallo Tripolo Strato racing stripes over a Blu Electra interior, this 812 was bespoke for its current and original owner.
According to the Ferrari website, “The 812 Competizione is the ultimate expression of Ferrari’s concept of an extreme front-engine Berlinetta and hones the characteristics of the critically acclaimed 812 Superfast to a level never seen before.”
Morgan Class
1957 Morgan Plus 4 presented by Stephanie and Spider Bulyk, Madison, Connecticut. Interesting car notes: Driven over 200,000 miles. Has won 70+ trophies in Concours, TSD, Rally, Autocross, Field Trial, Gymkhana and Hill Climb.
1961 Morgan Plus 4 presented by Murray Smith, Newport, Rhode Island. Interesting car notes: Class winning and 13th overall at LeMans, chassis no. 4840. Raced at the Spa Grand Prix, Goodwood FoS, and Revival, Nürburgring 1000, and more. This racer proudly bears race number 29 on its side panels.
2023 Morgan Super 3, presented by Morgan Motors of New England, Copake, New York. Interesting car notes: 1.5L Ford three-cylinder engine, 118bhp, aluminum monocoque chassis.
Racecars of Thompson Speedway
1937 Chevrolet Modified Racing Coupe presented by Owner/Driver Greg Gilbert, Milton, Vermont. Interesting car notes: “Has remained continuously active in competition or vintage life since the 70s. Last coupe modified to compete in a NASCAR sanctioned event at Thompson Speedway.”
1953 PBX H Modified presented by Santi Spadaro, Rye Brook, New York. Interesting car notes: “Candy Poole was a legendary pioneer and an institution in Northeast racing during the 1950s. Poole’s PBX was by far one of the era’s most successful and feared SCCA race cars and won 46 races.”
1968 Porsche 912 presented by Kobus Reyneke, Easton, Connecticut. Interesting car notes: “Except for a few safety and suspension modifications, this 912 is stock. Carrying a VSCCA logbook, this 912 has been extensively vintage raced throughout the Northeast.”
Rally Cars
1956 Porsche 356A presented by Ed Hyman, Merryall, Connecticut. Interesting car notes: 57212 – a preservation class race/rallye car. This 356A has been in museum exhibits on Long Island and in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Porsche 1600 Super – Chopard Racing bears race number 37 EP on its side panels. Interesting car notes: Essex Sports Cars: Driver Lake C. Underwood, Sr. E Prod SCCA National Champion. 1963 Race Stats: Took 1st at Cumberland, 2nd at Lime Rock Park, 1st at Watkins Glen, 1st at Thompson’s Raceway, 1st at EP National Championship. 1964 Race Stats: 1st at Bridgehampton, 1st at Mid-Ohio, 1st at Thompson Raceway, and 3rd at EP National Championship.
1976 Fiat 131 Abarth Rallye, 1660 Veloce, Alitalia Racing.
1994 Lancia Delta EVO2, 1600 Veloce, Rally – Martini Racing
