Mathias Lattin – Up Next was Engineered by Sinclair Ridley, Mixing and Mastering by David Donaldson, Produced by Mathias Lattin, and released by the VizzTone label group. Mathias Lattin is a Houston, Texas native and award-winning artists placing 1st at the 2023 International Blues Challenge, as well as Best Guitarist Award at just 20-year-old. The release of Up Next is the first of what we know will be many more from this exciting up-and-coming musician.

The release opens with the alluring track Who’s Been Loving On You, a swaying melody with some hot keyboard work of Shawn Allen. A sexy slow bass line and soft drumming complement the exhilarating cord work and vocals of Mathias. The next track, Lose Some Weight, was the first single released from Up Next. The song leads with pounding drums and cymbals along with the backing organ work that sets the pace for Mathias’s jazzy vocals and guitar work.

The track Can’t Stop Feeling opens with a heart tugging series of bass chords featuring Mathias on the bass. The horn section is stellar and rounds out the feeling of the song’s lyrics, "Baby please, baby please come home to me, I ain’t got nothing else to lose…". The next track, You Know This Won’t Do, featuring Kyle Turner on tenor saxophone, is an up-tempo swing track that couples Kyle’s tenor saxophone with the fingers of Darrell Lavigne on piano creating a catchy and dynamic track.

The track Party is a party in itself with a mesmerizing bass line that will pull you in and land you on the organ sound that sets the party theme. You Don’t Love Me No More is blues at its finest with great lyrics and a melody that will have you nodding to the sound and felling the loss of love. Next up is I Tried So Hard, one of my favorite tracks featuring outstanding guitar work and vocals from Mathias.

The release closes with the tracks, 2nd Degree that lets the band jam and show their musicianship, After Party an instrumental that rips up the opening segment with a bouncy blues melody, and the closing track, a live version of Lose Some Weight.
