Richard Elliot – Summer Madness was produced by Rick Braun and released on the Heads Up International a division of Concord Music Group label.

The 10-track release opens with the song, Cachaca written by Jay Beckenstein (of Spyro Gyra). Cachaca is the national alcohol of Brazil, and the song has rich samba rhythms enhanced by a big band sound with Richard Elliot on tenor saxophone, Rick Braun layering in trumpet and trombone, and Curt Waylee on baritone saxophone, coupled with Ron Reinhardt on keyboards, Randy Jacob on guitar, Nathaniel Phillips on bass, Franklin Richardson III on drums, and Lenny Castro adding percussion.

Richard Elliot shows his Funk roots with the second song on the playlist, Breakin’ It Down written by Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Nathaniel Phillips, Randy Jacobs, Franklin Richardson III and Ron Reinhardt.

Next in the line-up is the Carlos Santana/Tom Coster song, Europa (Earth’s Cry Heaven’s Smile), which takes it nice and slow, a song to romance by, slow dance with your baby, or just sit back, listen, and enjoy. Rebecca Vega adds her lovely vocals with Richard Elliot on tenor saxophone, Ron Reinhardt on keyboards, Randy Jacobs on guitar, Nathaniel Phillips on bass, Franklin Richardson III on drums, Lenny Castro on percussion, and Rick Braun on trumpet and trombone.

West Coast Jam, another collaboration written by Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Nathaniel Phillips, Randy Jacobs, Franklin Richardson III and Ron Reinhardt, has a decidedly laid-back West Coast vibe.

Put on your hipster hat for Harry The Hipster, a song written by Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Nathaniel Phillips, Gerey Johnson, Eric Valentine, and Ron Reinhardt. The song features Richard Elliot on tenor saxophone, Ron Reinhardt on keyboards, Gerey Johnson on guitar, Nathaniel Phillips on bass Eric Valentine on drums, Lenny Castro on percussion, and Rick Braun on trumpet and trombone.

The release continues with Slam-O-Rama a song that slides into the Funk and brings back Curt Waylee to add his baritone saxophone to Richard Elliot’s tenor saxophone. Franklin Richardson, the drummer on this song, keeps the beat that drives the tempo of this catchy song.

Back To You written by Nathaniel Phillips, Richard Elliot, and Rick Braun, features Richard Elliot as the solo horn with Ron Reinhardt on keyboards, Gerey Johnson on guitar, Nathaniel Phillips on bass, Eric Valentine on drums, and Lenny Castro adding percussion.

Ludicrous Speed another collaboration written by Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Nathaniel Phillips, Randy Jacobs, Franklin Richardson III, and Ron Reinhardt, has a nice horn repartee between Richard Elliot and Rick Braun.

The title track, Summer Madness, written by Robert Earl Bell, George M. Brown, Robert "Spike" Mickens, Claydes Smith, Alton Taylor, Daniel Thomas, and Richard Westfield, takes it slow and easy with Richard Elliot as the solo horn, joined by Ron Reinhardt on keyboards, Gerey Johnson on guitar, Nathaniel Phillips on bass, Eric Valentine on drums, and Lenny Castro on percussion.

The release closes with Mr. Nate’s Wild Ride, a Nathaniel Phillips, Richard Elliot, and Rick Braun song, that picks up the pace and brings back the big double horn sound with Elliot on tenor saxophone and Rick Braun alternating between trumpet and trombone, for a strong finish to a great instrumental release.
