Chick Corea writes, "My genetics are Italian, but my heart is Spanish. I grew up with that music. This new band is a mix of all the wonderful and various aspects of my love and lifetime experience with these rhythms that have been such a big part of my musical heritage."
Chick Corea The Spanish Heart Band – Antidote is horn rich in sound with saxophone, trumpet, and trombone and sparkles with crystalline piano elements that dazzle the senses. Add in the combination of Ruben Blades’ vocals on the title track, Antidote, and midway throughthe release on the track My Spanish Heart, Chick’s wife,Gayle Moran Corea, adding her voice to the vocal choir on Prelude and My Spanish Heart, and Maria Bianca on Desafinado, and you have a powerful release that will long resonate with listeners.

The Yellow Nimbus – Part 2 has a beautiful Spanish guitar intro that provides the perfect segue into the stellar piano work. Put on your dancing shoes for track 7,Armando’s Rhumba with its sensual horn arrangements, stunning flute work by Jorge Pardo, and gorgeous piano. Chick and the band slide into track 8,Desafinado with its samba-like rhythms and Maria Bianca’s lovely vocals singing in Portuguese.In a time when downloads are the norm, this release deserves listeners to pick up a "hardcopy" as the CD comes with a great booklet of photos, lyrics, and translations from Spanish to English, and Portuguese to English, to fully appreciate the brilliant lyrics.
