The Victorian, part of The Kent Collection, in Kent, Connecticut, is a luxury boutique Inn at its finest. Built in 1890, and totally renovated in 2022, The Victorian is stunning and is conveniently located on North Main Street within walking distance of interesting shops, art galleries, and restaurants. The Victorian has five exquisite guestrooms that can be rented as single guestrooms or is available as a full-house rental. Imagine the possibility of gathering your family or friends together there to celebrate a special birthday, anniversary, or “just because” party and having the entire Inn at your disposal; that is true luxury.

We stayed at The Victorian in early Spring, in March 2025, and fell in love with the property. Beautiful gardens flank The Victorian with its large and welcoming front porch with a hanging porch swing with decorative pillows on one side, and comfortable white rattan chairs with blue pillows on the other, invite guests to come and sit, to relax, converse, or perhaps enjoy a good book.

A gracious nod to its history is the beautiful stained glass in the front doors. Inside the foyer, there is a sweeping and dramatic carpeted stairway and large gold mirror. An antique umbrella stand filled with umbrellas for guests’ use stands sentry against inclement weather.

To the right of the stairs is an attractive Games Room with a large round, dark wood table flanked by navy suede chairs with gold hobnail studs, a large Smart TV over the fireplace, and a wide selection of games and books lining the bookshelves. For those that like to play a game or two of chess, there is a beautiful chess set flanked by two club chairs.

Just off the Games Room, there is a pretty first-floor guestroom that can be set up with a King bed or offered with two twin beds, offering great flexibility. There are four additional beautifully appointed guestrooms on the second floor. Two of those have gas fireplaces, The Royal Room (Room 3), and The Victoria & Albert Suite, (Room 5) located on the second floor via the sweeping staircase. All of the guestrooms are unique and stunning with ensuite bathrooms, beautiful furniture, luxury linens, and amenities.

We stayed in The Victoria & Albert Suite located at the end of the hall on the second floor. This suite was pure luxury with its step-down sitting room with a queen sleeper sofa flanking a coffee table that led out to a large private deck that was perfect for stargazing in the evening and enjoying an early morning coffee.

Victoria & Albert Guestroom

The Kent Collection consists of five gorgeous properties, The Victorian, The Firefly, and The Garden Cottages, consisting of three very distinct and unique properties: The Little House (maximum 4 guests), The Train Car (an actual 1800s baggage car, maximum 4 guests), and The Bunk House (an early 1900s barn-like structure that was originally a bunkhouse for railroad employees, maximum 6 guests).

The Victorian and The Firefly (which has 9 guestrooms for a maximum of 18 guests) are located directly across the street from one another, making them desirable for larger groups. The Garden Cottages are located within walking distance of The Victorian and The Firefly.

In addition to staying at The Victorian, we also spent a perfect night at The Firefly (read about our stay there in the Hotels and Resorts section) and we also visited The Garden Cottages. If you are looking for luxury accommodation in intimate and unique settings, along with gracious hospitality, you will need to look no further than The Kent Collection.

Until next time, sweet dreams!
