We love visiting aquariums and spent a perfect afternoon at the Curaçao Sea Aquarium located in Willemstad, Curaçao, which is a fabulous “adventure destination” perfect for all age groups. They have several different experiences that will captivate your senses and better acquaint you with their undersea residents so you will want to allow yourself enough time to enjoy their diverse offerings at leisure. Since 1984, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium has enchanted visitors and residents with their state-of-the-art fascinating facility and diverse experiences available. We absolutely loved our visit there!
Dolphin Academy Curaçao
As divers, we love visiting aquariums around the world as we are always interested in learning more about uncharted waters and the plethora of aquatic animals that reside there. We visited the Curaçao Sea Aquarium on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, during a visit to the stunning island of Curaçao located on the Caribbean Sea in the Leeward Antilles.
Dolphin Training
What was especially impressive was their exciting programs throughout the day. On the day we visited, their schedule of activities began at 9:00 am with Lobster Feeding, followed by additional programs on the half-hour that included Amazing Sea Life Facts, Action Feeding Session, Dolphin Training Demonstration by the trainers, Flamingo Feeding where visitors can meet their rescued flamingoes, another Lobster Feeding, and a 30-minute film, Curaçao Underwater Kunuko Documentary at 12:15 pm (about snorkeling 100km/60 miles of their South coast).

The afternoon series of programs included a 1:00 pm Nurse and Lemon Shark Feeding, followed by programs on the half-hour with a Dolphin Training Demonstration, a Flamingo Feeding, Amazing Sea Life Facts, Action Feeding Session (watch the predators in action), another Flamingo Feeding at 3:30 pm, and the last program of the day at 4:15 pm – a Dolphin Training Demonstration.
During our visit, we met the flamingos and especially enjoyed watching Freddie Flamingo doing his courting dance complete with squawking and wings spread wide. We also enjoyed standing on the bridge and watching their 4 lemon and 32 nurse sharks swimming majestically by in their open enclosure. We also ventured onto their stationary boat to watch the stingrays and fish glide by the wall of windows.
Feeding Flamingos
Dolphins! If you love dolphins and have always dreamed of interacting or seeing dolphins up close this is the place! You can watch the trainers during the Dolphin Training programs, and if you want a more in-depth dolphin experience, they offer a Dolphin Education Program, a Dolphin Encounter, and a Dolphin Academy for longer dolphin interaction experiences. We watched the dolphin training and especially enjoyed being kissed by the dolphins!
Besides the extensive range of scheduled activities on the daily program, there was much to see and experience, and we had the opportunity to learn more about their some of their special residents including Herbie their 30-year-old grouper, and Greenie their sea turtle, to name a few of fabulous “friends” we met during our visit. We also enjoyed visiting and learning about their Queen Conch Hatchery.

You can easily spend a few hours, a half-day, full-day, or several days to fully experience all that the Curaçao Sea Aquarium offers, so allow yourself enough time to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Whether you are looking to spend a few hours on shore as a cruise ship passenger making a stop in Curaçao or are staying on the island, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium will delight, enchant, and create lasting memories of your trip.

Curaçao Sea Aquarium Hours: Open year-round, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. There is a food and beverage terrace, as well as a gift shop.

Guided Tour Animal Encounters: Must be a minimum of 8 years of age.
Participants must be able to swim and feel comfortable snorkeling in deep water. This program is not accessible for pregnant women.
