Instrumental jazz piano fans are in for a treat with the stunningly gorgeous new 15-track album from the Danny Fox Trio РTime Took Care of It released on the Adhy̢ropa Records label. Since 2008, the Danny Fox Trio comprised of Danny Fox on piano, Chris van Voorst van Beest on bass, and Max Goldman on drums, has been exciting audiences with their version of jazz that "cooks." For their fourth album, Time Took Care of It, Danny proves his talent in the kitchen as well as on the piano, with Time Took Care of It: A Cookbook Companion to the album. If you love instrumental jazz, this latest album from the Danny Fox Trip is well worth a listen. The release hits the streets in April 2023.

Danny Fox Trio РTime Took Care of It was produced by Danny Fox and recorded and mixed by Seth Manchester at Machines with Magnets. The gorgeous artwork on the cover and CD design was done by Risha Lee. The album was released on the Adhy̢ropa Records label. Danny Fox composed all 15 songs on the album with arrangement by the trio, and additional arrangements by Chris van Voorst van Beest.

Brooklyn-based Danny Fox on piano, together with Chris van Voorst van Beest on bass, and Max Goldman on drums have been pushing the jazz envelope since 2008 exploring new avenues and styles. They released their first album in 2011, and Time Took Care of It, released in April 2023, marks their fourth album, and is a fabulous compilation of original material composed by Danny Fox.

The 15-track Time Took Care of It opens with the composition, Altbauer, and from there the musical magic begins, as the trio eases into the music that highlights Danny’s exquisite piano work with Chris layering in the bass to add the right spice. So Long Mel picks up the pace and pushes jazz envelopes on this one, with a steady rhythm of piano that tracks throughout the composition.

Keeping the up-tempo pace the trio segues into Very Cool Guy, followed by Fruit Fly. The trio slows the pace on the intro of The Ogres before picking up the pace, and there are excellent piano/bass duos on this beautiful composition. The trio has fun cooking the jazz on the composition Dr. Bob, then slides into the composition Slow Ham with Max Goldman leading the way with his drum intro.

Other great tracks are Chive Tie, Cherney Method, and Here He Comes, a lively composition that works so well and is one of my favorites on the release with its fast fingered piano work. Next on the playlist is Guaranteed Sharks, followed by the rollicking and romping composition Jewish Cowgirl.

Coming into the home stretch of the album, the trio segues into Something in the Shed, followed by the title track, Time Took Care of It (For Papa Joe), which is another stunning composition of excellence. The release deftly closes with the composition, Post Vals, where Max Goldman leads off with a drum intro that sets the pace for this fabulous one that is a fitting finale for a great release.

Playing together since 2008, the Danny Fox Trio shows their cohesiveness as a group, and with their fourth album, Danny Fox Trio – Time Took Care of It, they continue to take instrumental jazz to new levels of excellence. Bravo!

Until next time, keep enjoying the music!
