lovers are in for a treat with the
award-winning Tequila Código 1530 Rosa,
as it is exceptionally smooth with layers of flavor nuances that make it
equally enjoyable whether sipped neat, served over ice, used in cocktails, or
to enhance culinary recipes. Made from 100% Blue Agave in Amatitán, Jalisco,
México, this ultra-premium tequila has won a coveted space on our drinks table.
We created three delectable cocktails and a culinary recipe that complement
this outstanding product.
We first
became acquainted with Tequila Código 1530 when they were doing tastings of
their line of products over the summer at select Greenwich Polo Club matches in Greenwich, Connecticut. We figured that if Tequila Código
1530 could taste that wonderful when doing a tasting from a tiny plastic cup,
we could only imagine how sensational it would be in proper spirits tasting
glasses.
At home, we
tasted the Tequila Código 1530 Rosa in spirits tasting glasses and its
multi-level nuances and its ultra-smoothness came across our palates with an
astounding "wow." What makes the product exceptional is that they start with 100%
Blue Agave grown in Amatitán, Jalisco, México to create their Tequila Código
1530 Blanco, then rest it for one month in uncharred award-winning Napa Valley
Cabernet French White Barrels. The result imparts a slight rose tint to the Tequila
Código 1530 Rosa without overplaying the delicate flavors of the agave.
While the Tequila
Código 1530 Rosa was delicious on its own, when used in cocktails, it was a
knockout. While we became acquaintances over tastings at the Greenwich Polo
Club, we became lasting friends when we had the opportunity to spend time
together and get to know Tequila Código 1530 Rosa at our home.
Product and
Bottle Information: Tequila Código
1530 Rosa is made from 100% Blue Agave in Amatitán, Jalisco, México, and
bottled at the source. 40% alcohol. This exceptionally smooth tequila is
presented in a stunning bottle with the Jerusalem cross on the body of the
bottle and is also on bottom. $65/750-ml bottle.
Tasting
Notes: The color is a delicate pink with agave
and a hint of floral notes on the nose, with a lovely lasting finish.

playful reference to the ingredients, Grande is for the Grand Marnier used, and
Caliente is for the homemade jalapeño simple syrup that is combined with Tequila
Código 1530 Rosa, pineapple juice, and lemon juice, and garnished with a
floating pineapple topped with dried candied jalapeño for a spectacular
cocktail with a hint of spice.

Important
Note: The strength of jalapeños varies
so cut a small piece from each of them to determine the level of heat and
adjust amount used accordingly.
Method for
the Jalapeño Simple Syrup: Add all
ingredients to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil until the sugar has
dissolved. Remove pan from heat and allow to cool at room temperature. Strain
syrup into a glass jar and refrigerate until ready to use. Will keep in the
refrigerator for several weeks. You will now bake the jalapeños in an oven to
dry them out.
Method for
the Candied Jalapeños: Pre-heat oven to
200 degrees Fahrenheit/93 degrees Celsius. Place a piece of parchment on a
baking sheet, add the jalapeños that were infused in the syrup. Bake until
jalapeños are dry (and not sticky). Remove from the oven and cool them on a
wire rack. Store in a covered glass jar until ready to use. (Will keep for at
least a week.)
Method for
the cocktail: Add ingredients to a metal shaker with
3 ice cubes, shake until ice is incorporated into cocktail. Add pineapple ring
to a chilled Martini glass. Pour cocktail in the "hole" of the pineapple.
Garnish with dried candied jalapeños.

Method for
the Pomegranate Simple Syrup: Add all
ingredients to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil until the sugar has
dissolved. Remove pan from heat and allow to cool at room temperature. Put a
small strainer over a glass jar. Pour the syrup into the glass jar and press
down on the pomegranate seeds to elicit all their flavor and color. Discard the
seeds. Refrigerate simple syrup until ready to use. Will keep in the
refrigerator for several weeks.
Method for
the Cocktail: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass
and stir to combine. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to use. Pour into a
wine glass, garnish with a few fresh pomegranate seeds.

Experience - Spirited "Pumpkin Pie" is our take
on a "liquid" version of pumpkin pie. We started by rimming a Martini glass
with Pink House Alchemy Pumpkin Butternut Spice Syrup and crushed graham
crackers. We created the cocktail with Tequila Código 1530 Rosa, canned pumpkin
puree, Pink House Alchemy Pumpkin Butternut Spice Syrup, and sweetened
condensed milk, and dusted the cocktail with ground nutmeg. Garnished with a
cinnamon stick.

Method for
the Rim: Add a little of the Pink Alchemy Pumpkin
Butternut Syrup to a plate. Twist glass in the syrup to create a "sticky" rim.
Add finely ground graham cracker to another plate. Twist the rim of the glass
into the graham crackers to finish the rim.
Method for
the Cocktail: Add all ingredients to a metal shaker
with 3 ice cubes, shake until ice is incorporated into cocktail. Pour into
chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and dust with ground
nutmeg.
The
Culinary Recipe
Tequila
Código 1530 Rosa is worth its weight in gold as a culinary enhancer. We used a
small amount of it to create our recipe for Luxury Experience - Spirited
Mushrooms which gave our grilled steaks an extra sophisticated and
delectable finish.

- Steak and Tequila "Spirited" Mushrooms

Method: Melt butter and let cool slightly. Add the Tequila Código 1530 Rosa
and stir to combine. Add mushrooms to a bowl, pour the butter mixture and stir
to combine. Add the sage, salt, and pepper, and stir to combine. Let rest for
15 minutes. Heat a sauté pan, add the mushrooms and sauté until tender.
Presentation: Arrange mushrooms over grilled steaks.

"We pride
ourselves in striving to make Código 1530 the most selective tequila in the
world, using only perfect inputs and age-old secret family processes. We hand
select the best, fully matured agave, to ensure that with each harvest, our
agave's Brix level (sugar content) meets our high standards. For each small
batch, we use 3x the average amount of agave for a better tasting, smooth
tequila. We make each batch naturally, without any added sweeteners or colors.
Each drop of Amatitán water we use is from freshwater pools and rainwater,
filtered through the volcanic soil of Los Bajos. Our proprietary chopper allows

to garner the purest flavor. We use an organic yeast from a small family bakery
in Amatitán, rather than aggressive commercial yeast, to facilitate a more

rather than the more commonly used American whiskey barrels. This distinctive
difference in our aging embraces the clean elegance of wine making, to produce
