The "Adventure KidsTM" aka Debra C. Argen and Edward F. Nesta had a fantastic adventure discovering the Museum of Illusions (MOI) located in New York City where visitors are encouraged to play with the interactive exhibits and to bring their cameras and take photos! If you love illusions and hands-on museums, this fun and educational museum will captivate your imagination and is perfect for all ages.

Dinner is Served

We visited the museum on the afternoon of Friday, November 15, 2019 and as we walked inthe door, the band Styx’s song, Grand Illusion was playing in our heads where its lyrics implore, "Welcome to the grand illusion, come on in and see what’s happening…" Fresh, fun, and engaging are words that can aptly describe the Museum of Illusions. As longtime fans of the Dutch artist MCEscher (1898 – 1972) who was a mathematical genius and a surrealist artist, we love graphic illusions that challenge the mind, and the MOI does all that and more.

Equally important to the experience was the friendly and courteous museum team who greeted visitors warmly and offered helpful advice on how to best interact with the exhibits to maximize enjoyment, going so far as to even take photos as visitors struck silly poses. Where most museums have a "hands-off" policy, the MOI was especially designed for interaction. The result was a delightful and entertaining afternoon of silly fun combined with learning as we took our time and moved from one interesting illusion to the next located on the two floors of the space.

During our visit to the museum, we saw many families, as well as couples on "dates" with the commonality of all ages having a wonderful time and enjoying the museum. If you live in New York City or are visiting and want to experience something new and different, be sure to visit the Museum of Illusions. Just remember to bring your inner child and imagination with you along with your camera or smart phoneto remember your special visit.

About the Museum of Illusions

"The Museum of Illusions in New York brings you a space suitable both for social and entertaining tours into the world of illusions which has delighted all generations. It’s a unique place for new experiences and fun with friends and family. Not only is it a place for children who adore coming, but also a place for parents, couples, grandmothers and grandfathers. Enjoy in our collection of holograms, look closer at every optical illusion and observe thoroughly each installation. They are such a brilliant, playful reminder that our assumptions about the world we perceive are often, nothing but a specter of illusions. The genuine heritage of showpieces will more certainly make your jaw drop! Amusing and awesome tricks will teach you about vision, perception, the human brain and science so it will be easier to perceive why your eyes see things which your brain cannot understand. Make sure you visit our playroom with intriguing and educational games and puzzles. These brain bashers are definitely great fun buttend to be frustrating as well."
