February is New York Fashion Week, and in March, New Yorkers gather for world class wine events, including the prestigious 2-day  James Suckling Great Wines World 2026: New York at The Glasshouse where 700 wines from 350 producers and 60 wine regions were uncorked for attendees to sniff, swirl, and sip, with offerings from around the world. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed learning about the wines presented, as well as tasting the incredible wines. Cheers!

The Wine Regions: Day 1, March 2, featured wines from:

North America: Canada, United States (California, New York, Oregon, and Virginia)

South America: Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay

Europe: France (Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence, and Rhône Valley), Greece

Italy (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Trentino-Alto Adige, Tuscany, Valle d’Acosta, Veneto)

Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Spain (Aragón, Castilla y León, La Rioja)

Oceania: Australia, New Zealand

Where to Start?

James Suckling Points Rating

James uses a 100-points rating scale to award points to a wine done in a blind tasting. (https://www.jamessuckling.com/videos/how-my-100-point-scale-for-rating-wine-works)

Points are awarded based on: Color: up to 15 points, Aromas: up to 25 points, Body Structure: up to 25 points, and Overall Impressions: up to 35 points.

The opportunity for attendees to experience such high-caliber wines, especially wines awarded 99 and 100 points, is one of the many reasons why the James Suckling wine events are so anticipated by wine lovers around the world.

A Sampling of Some of the Many Highlights of Exceptional Wines We Experienced

Wine Sampled, Region, Points, and Notes

The Great Wines World 2026 event at The Glasshouse in New York was a celebration of 700 wines from 350 producers, and 60 wine regions and was held over 2 days, on March 2 and 3. Wines presented included red, white, and sparkling categories.

We attended the first day, and with the plethora of exceptional wines including those awarded 99-100 points, it was certainly hard to choose where to start. We bring a few of the many highlights that we sniffed, swirled, and spit (tasted).
