Location, location, location! We stayed at the intimate, Hotel Villa Marquis, member of Meliá Collection, a gorgeous five-star luxury hotel located in the Central District of Paris, in the Élysée-8th Arrondissement (District) at 35 rue Jean Goujon, on the right bank (Rive Droit) of the Seine River. The hotel is located a mere 1.3 km (0.8 mile) from the Eiffel Tower. How much more romantic can you get when your hotel has this iconic landmark as its neighbor? Luxury shopping and a diverse selection of museums are also close by, making the hotel perfect for business or leisure guests.

Paris is the capital of France and has a population of 2.1 million, and as such, at the end of the day, it was lovely to return to the charming 64-room Hotel Villa Marquis, where guest service is an integral part of the hotel’s philosophy, and guests are warmly welcomed back.

Guest Room

Our room was on the 5th floor and had a street view and a balcony with a flower box filled with beautiful, crimson, Cyclamen flowers. The king bed featured a DreamMaker mattress sumptuously and romantically dressed in ivory linens with a plethora of pillows against a crimson velvet curved headboard, with matching crimson velvet drapes on the two large windows, and a crimson love seat placed at the foot of the bed. A large television with Chromecast hung on the wall opposite the bed, and a round table with a chair was perfect for enjoying morning coffee or planning how to spend our day in Paris.

Bathroom amenities included robes and slippers, a deep soaking tub large enough for two, a large walk-in shower with rain showerhead, and a heated towel rack. There was a separate bathroom with vanity sink, toilet, and assorted thoughtful toiletry amenities including toothbrushes and toothpaste, and a shaving kit, items that busy travelers frequently forget to pack.

Other in-room amenities included a hairdryer, a clothes steamer, and a safe. A Nespresso coffeemaker with a selection of Nespresso pods, a hot water tea kettle and a selection of teas, and a bottle of Evian water, provided the perfect start to our day. The room also had a mini-bar refrigerator and a selection of items for purchase.

A few of the hotel amenities include their Signature Restaurant – Dos Almas Restaurant, Fitness Center, Yoga Classes, Business Center, Accessible Rooms, Adapted Rooms, and special Experiences. Another advantage for those that love traveling with their dogs is that the hotel is Dog Friendly and has special pet friendly rooms and special amenities for pets.

Breakfast – Crispy French Breads & Pastries

During our stay, we enjoyed two delectable dinners at Dos Almas Restaurant, as well as starting our days with sumptuous breakfasts in the restaurant. The name means, Dos Almas, means two souls in Spanish, which reflects the Meliá Spanish culture and style and the French culture and location. Their menu is a delicious fusion of cuisines.

Two of the many highlights from our dinners included the Octopus presented with saffron rice with seafood, and cuttlefish ink tuille, and Salmon presented as a plancha smoked salmon steak, with Flemish-style green and white asparagus, and a potato waffle. As an added bonus, the restaurant has live music every Friday evening. We dined at the restaurant on two consecutive Fridays and enjoyed both of the duos that provided lovely accompaniment to exquisite cuisine.

Our stay at the hotel was lovely and charming; however, it was the hotel staff that ultimately made for a memorable stay, taking care of each guest with dedicated care that one would expect in a luxury hotel. We cannot wait to return to the Hotel Villa Marquis the next time that we travel to Paris.
