Although the attractive Vivaldi Spa is a relative newcomer on the prestigious Grande Allée Est in Québec, Canada that is lined with elegant old-world mansions, the Béliveau family has been in the Spa business for the past 20 years and has pampering down to a science. Add Sothys Paris line of products in the mix, and it is a most welcome addition.
During a trip to Québec, Canada we had the opportunity to indulge in some much needed, and well deserved, we must say, Spa pampering at Vivaldi Spa. We walked down the steps to the Spa and entered the reception area where we were warmly greeted. Sitting on the leather loveseat in front of the fireplace where a bold painting of flowers hung over the mantle while filling out our Spa consultation forms, we noticed that the ambience had a comfortable and cozy residential feel, like visiting a friend, with stonewalls, black piano, black leather club chairs flanking the fireplace, with an Oriental carpet on the tile floor, and a tall bistro table flanked by tall stools placed in the bay window that created intimate and relaxing seating areas.
Vivaldi Reception Area
Vivaldi Spa opened in January 2008 and is a stunning little gem with 12 well-appointed treatment rooms and a diverse menu of facials, body wraps, scrubs, therapeutic baths, massages, and pressotherapy, as well as manicures, pedicures, microdermabrasion and collagen, waxing, electrolysis, and even make-up application. For our Spa experience in May 2009, we decided to indulge in side-by-side massages, where we would have our massage treatments in the same room, which is something that we rarely do, although we frequently have massages. There is something about sharing the massage experience with someone you care about that heightens the experience, as long as neither of you falls asleep and starts snoring, which of course, would certainly put a damper on your partner’s experience.
Salle Estheque
With our forms completed, our therapists, Sophie (for Edward), and Jean-Phillippe (for Debra) guided us to the well-appointed treatment room which had low lighting, bamboo shades on the long windows, chocolate brown faux fur throws at the end of the massage beds, and a private en-suite bathroom.
For the next 60 minutes, with soft music playing in the background, our therapists performed the almost magical task of restoring energy back into our bodies that felt like we had walked every square inch of Québec and then some, in our efforts to discover as much as we could of this charming city. Although we were both very relaxed during the massage session, and may have indeed fallen asleep at some point during our treatment, fortunately, neither of us disturbed the other by snoring.
Salle Duo Treatment Room
When our massages were completed, we sighed with pleasure as we donned chocolate brown fleece Spa robes, and pulled on chocolate brown slippers (totes for Debra, slip-ons for Edward), and our therapists Sophie and Sabrina guided us to another treatment room for our final Spa treatments of express pedicures.
Edward: Since Debra was going to have an express pedicure after her massage she suggested that I have one, too. Although Debra regularly has pedicures, and thoroughly enjoys them, this was not something that I do, and although I have had a diverse range of Spa treatments throughout the years including Hopi ear-candling, scrubs, wraps, facials, and a wide variety of massages, having a pedicure was not something that exactly fell high on my Spa wish list, however, with that said, Debra convinced me to give it a try, and I did indeed consent to have an express pedicure.
Sitting in a comfortable chair in a brightly lit windowed room enjoying a cup of tea while my feet soaked in a warm sudsy bath, I thought, okay, this is nice, what is all the fuss about?
The fun began as Sophie dried my feet and then started shaping them up a bit here and there, and I thought, okay, this is where I start feeling uncomfortable. I snuck a glance over at Debra, sitting beside me, happily enjoying her pedicure, and noticed that she had a slightly bemused look on her face when she glanced over at me to watch my progress. When my pedicure was complete, I had to admit that my feet did look nicer, although I doubt that this will become a regular part of my Spa treatments in the future.
Debra: From beginning to end, I thoroughly enjoyed my Vivaldi Spa treatments and also sharing the experience with Edward.
