The AquaSpa by Elemis
on the Celebrity Cruises - Eclipse, the third ship in
the Celebrity Cruises Solstice Class, is
an ultra-luxurious floating oasis where decadent pampering is a given. Attractive,
plush, and soothing surroundings, innovative Spa treatments, and personalized,
professional service make this Spa a must when booking your cruise.
I experienced the AquaSpa by Elemis with its diverse Spa menu offerings in
November 2010 when I had the pleasure of cruising on the Celebrity Eclipse when
she made her North American debut from the Port of Miami.
Built in Germany
and inaugurated on April
29, 2010, the ship is stunning and weighs in at 122,000 tons, is
1041 feet in length, has an occupancy of 2850, and has a cruising speed of 27 knots.

Celebrity Cruises - Eclipse
Imagine a perfectly designed
resort, and you have imagined the Celebrity Eclipse, the difference is that the
scenery is ever changing. From well-appointed staterooms, 10 restaurants, 14
bars, outdoor and indoor pools, day and nighttime entertainment and activities,
a green grass lawn where you can play croquet, diverse shops, an art gallery, a
casino, a library, to their world class AquaSpa by Elemis, cruising on the
Celebrity Eclipse is a memorable experience.
As for the AquaSpa by Elemis,
Elemis is a well-respected name in the Spa world for their Spas featuring innovative
and diverse treatments as well as for their line of excellent products. Launched in
1989, Elemis has become a leading luxury British Spa and skincare brand. Having
experienced Elemis Spas throughout the world, I have always enjoyed an Elemis
Spa experience.

AquaSpa by Elemis
A few of the many treatments
they offer at AquaSpa by Elemis on the Celebrity Eclipse include a 24-karat
gold facial utilizing rose quartz and a pure 24 karat gold leaf mask, indulgent
massages, acupuncture, cosmetic treatments, and tooth whitening. There are
specialized fitness classes, specially designed treatments for men, and salon
treatments including eyelash enhancements, brow sculpting, brow and lash
tinting, waxing, manicures, pedicures, hair styling, and color services.

Salon
As someone who spends a great
deal of my day sitting at my desk when I am not off somewhere in the world on a
high-energy adventure, massages are one of my favorite Spa treatments to help
loosen tight limbs and muscles. After perusing the AquaSpa by Elemis diverse
massage treatment menu, which included such interesting treatments as the
Bamboo Massage that utilizes varying size warm bamboo shoots soaked in
essential oil, the Elemis Aroma Spa Seaweed Massage, the Thai Table Massage
using yoga stretches, and the Thai Herbal Poultice Massage utilizing warm
scented herbal poultices, I wanted to try them all.
However, being prudent, and
of sound mind and body, at least most of the time, and knowing that time would
not allow me to experience the entire Spa menu, at least on this cruise, I decided
to experience the Thai Herbal Poultice Massage. It was an energizing, rhythmic
massage where the therapist applied the warm and scented heated herbal
poultices to my body at the pressure points to relax the muscles and release
tension. She used a combination of Eastern and Western massage techniques along
with lavender essential oils to assist in aromatherapy, and worked on my
muscles for 75 magic minutes. A scalp, neck, and shoulder massage completed
this wonderful treatment.

Thai Herbal Poultice Massage
I emerged from the treatment
wanting to prolong my Spa experience and spent time first in the sauna to allow
the essential oils to condition my skin, took a cold shower to allow my body to
cool down, followed by a session in the steam room. I was so relaxed from my
massage, followed by sessions in the sauna and steam rooms that it was a wonder
I could still stand upright. Another cold shower helped to clear my head, and I
headed to my stateroom refreshed, relaxed, and ready for an evening of
celebration on the Celebrity Eclipse.
