TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge at
Mohegan Sun
We experienced the newly opened TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge at the Mohegan Sun on Saturday, January 29, 2022, and were immediately impressed by the attractive space, as well as the level of service, especially considering that the restaurant was at capacity.
Lounge
The restaurant has two dining areas, the lounge, and the main dining room. The lounge is an intimate space with exposed brick walls, metal latticework, a wrap-around banquette along one wall, and small marble-topped and lacquer tables flanked by sexy, velvet low-back curved seating areas for two. Votive candles on the tables softly illuminate the patrons, and there are interesting sculptures, tall vases on the floor filled with flowers, and artwork throughout the lounge. The key architecturally detail in the lounge is the massive intricately carved column.
Main Dining Room
Crossing the bridge from the lounge into the main dining room a 16-foot Quan Yin statue greets patrons, and an intricately painted ceiling anchors the room and adds elegance and style. The dining room and lounge are both sophisticated and contemporary, where an eye on detail extends to the glassware used for their creative cocktail menu and the attractive plates used to showcase their cuisine.
Their menu consists of Small Plates, Soups, Dim Sum, Barbecue, Noodles and Rice, The Sea, The Land, The Sky, The Sides, Sushi and Sashimi, Specialties, Specialty Rolls, and Desserts. From The Sea section of the menu, we ordered the Thai Sweet and Spicy Shrimp with tamarind and bell pepper. This was a gorgeous presentation of a plethora of very delectable crispy shrimp in a sauce that had just the right amount of kick, presented with fresh pineapple, pepper, and garnished with chopped scallions.

From The Land portion of the menu, we ordered the Filet Mignon Tokyo: Style with marrow, mushroom, and onion. This was another well-presented dish with the oh-so tender filet mignon positioned on a flavorful pool of rich sauce.

To pair with The Sea and The Land courses, we ordered the Olive Fried Rice with olive leaf, haricot vert, and trumpet mushrooms from the Noodles and Rice section of the menu, to share. The rice was redolent with chopped haricot verts, scallions, trumpet mushrooms, and carrots, and was another delicious and beautifully presented dish.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge at Mohegan Sun, where they proved that they are more than just a pretty face. While the restaurant is indeed gorgeous, so is the food.
TAO Asian Bistro & Lounge is open Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 pm until midnight. They are located just off the Sky Tower Hotel Lobby at the Mohegan Sun.
Until next time…
