Rivival Kitchen & Bar
We had an excellent dinner at Revival Kitchen and Bar on Friday, August 30, 2019, when the restaurant was bustling with energy. The restaurant has a very creative cocktail menu, and we selected 2 of their inspired cocktails to begin our evening. Their award-winning Figalicious cocktail was made with West Cork Irish Whiskey, Black Fig Vodka, Lemon Juice, Bitters, Maple Syrup, with a dried fig and bleu cheese skewer. Their Basil Vodka was light and aromatic and made with Grey Goose Vodka, Basil "Tea" and garnished with fresh basil and an orange cherry tomato.
Figalicious Cocktail – CHEERS!
The menu consists of small and large plates and we began our evening with two of their inspired small plates, the Lobster Poutine and the Rabbit and Brie Tortelloni. Poutine is a regular on Quebec, Canada menus as well as at some Northern New England restaurants, and consists of french fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy. Chef Corey Fletcher’s creation of Lobster Poutine was sheer genius that combined french fries drizzled with Hollandaise sauce, topped with lobster meat the iconic symbol of New England seafood, espellette pepper, scallions, and toma cheese. The result was amazingly tasty, and not a fry was left on the plate.

The Rabbit and Brie Tortelloni was another interesting and well-crafted recipe and consisted of three tortelloni filled with rabbit and brie, accompanied by beets, pistachios, fennel chips, and spiced blackberry jus.

From the large plate section of the menu, we had the Seared Sea Scallops with Saffron Calasparra Rice, Baby Shrimp, Tomato, and Citrus Vinaigrette, and the Grilled Maple Brined Pork Chop with Cheddar Fondue, Roasted Potatoes, Spinach, Leeks, and Truffle Oil.
Seared Sea Scallops
The scallops consisted of 5 perfectly golden crusted scallops artistically arranged on a bed of baby shrimp studded saffron calasparra rice which provided a lovely light color to showcase the scallops. The citrus vinaigrette added the right amount of seasoning without overtaking the mélange of flavors on the palate.
Grilled Maple Brined Pork Chop
The pork chop was large and meaty and oh so tender, and the cheddar fondue provided an intriguing counterpoint to the maple pork. Although it was late August, the roasted potatoes, spinach, leeks and truffle oil hinted at Autumn and were delicious.
The sous chef makes house made macarons, and when our server told us there was a Seasonal French Macaron on the menu, a Matcha (finely powdered green tea) Macaron,we knew we had to try it. Long time macaron aficionados, the Matcha Macaron was sheer perfection; light texture, lovely flavors, and not overly sweet.
Fruit and Oatmeal Cobbler
We also had the oh-so New England dessert, the Seasonal Fruit and Oatmeal Cobbler, made with blackberries, peaches, and grapefruit, served warm, and topped with a generous scoop of ice cream. Need we say more?
