Ken Ludwig’s play, The Fox on the Fairway provided a hilarious evening of merriment at the Music Theatre of Connecticut (MTC) in Norwalk, Connecticut. The play has a brilliant, fast-paced script about two rival country club’s annual golf tournament complete with zany characters played to great aplomb by the actors Missy Dowse, Ted Gibson, Sean Hannon, Josh Powell, Anette Michelle Sanders, and Erin M. Williams, and directed by Amy Griffin. If you need a laugh-out-loud night of entertainment, The Fox on the Fairway is sure to please both golfers and non-golfers alike. The play runs until November 23, 2025.

Josh Powell (Bingham), Ted Gibson (Justin) – The Fox on the Fairway
As we had previously seen other Ken Ludgwig’ s plays including Lend Me A Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo, at the Music Scene of Connecticut, we knew what to expect – a night of laughter for his farcical play, The Fox on the Fairway. We attended the play on opening night of Saturday, November 8, 2025, when the theatre was filled with patrons out for a night of fun and laughter, which the play delivered in abundance.

Josh Powell (Bingham), Sean Hannon (Dickie) – The Fox on the Fairway
The Fox on the Fairway is set in The Tap Room of Quail Valley Country Club and scenic designer Sean Sanford has once again created a set that transports the audience to the country club. Golf attire has a history of odd-fashion, and Costume Designer Diane Vanderkroef found the perfect wardrobe that sets the tone for the play.

Erin M. Williams (Louise), Ted Gibson (Justin) – The Fox on the Fairway
The cast is world-class with perfect on-point comedic delivery beginning with Josh Powell as Mr. Bingham, the head of the Quail Valley Country Club, Ted Gibson as Justin, his eager to please assistant, Sean Hannon as Dickie, the head of the rival country club, Missy Dowse as Pamela Peabody a member of the Quail Valley Country Club and former wife of Dickie, Erin M. Williams as Louise, the club’s waitress and Justin’s girlfriend, and Anette Michelle Sanders as Muriel, Mr. Bingham’s tyrannical wife.

Josh Powell (Bingham), Missy Dowse (Pamela) – The Fox on the Fairway
The fun begins just before the country club’s annual golf tournament of which the rival club has won for the past five years, much to Mr. Bingham’s dismay. This year he is determined that Quail Valley will win by bringing in a “ringer” although in true farce fashion, much happens before the tournament even takes place beginning with his assistant leaving. Stressed to find a replacement, he hires Justin on a whim, who just happened to be at the club visiting his girlfriend Louise. The stress of the tournament takes on an elevated level when a substantial bet is made between Mr. Bingham and Dickie, which would devastate Quail Valley Country Club, and Mr. Bingham learns that Dickie has “stolen” his “ringer” to play for his club. The fun continues as Bingham looks for another “ringer” and surprisingly finds one in Justin.

Sean Hannon (Dickie), Annette Michelle Sanders (Muriel) – The Fox on the Fairway
This two-act play was non-stop fun with fast-paced dialogue, wagers, lots of romance, and situation comedy that had the audience laughing out loud throughout. The talented ensemble of actors had perfect comedic timing whether delivering lines or performing slapstick antics and made for a perfect evening of theatre. The Fox on the Fairway runs until November 23, 2025.

Until next time, keep enjoying and supporting the arts!
