Playwright Matthew Lombard‘s satirical comedic play, Who’s Holiday! is set on Christmas Eve and takes place in Cindy Lou Who’s dilapidated trailer in the hills of Mount Crumpet where she awaits her guests to arrive for her party. Cindy Lou Who of the Whoville clan is all grown up now and middle-aged and her life has not exactly turned out as she had hoped. While waiting for her party guests to arrive, Cindy Lou Who regales the audience with tales of her life since she was the cute little two-year old in the pink pajamas.

Who’s Holiday!
We saw the play on opening night at the Music Theatre of Connecticut on Saturday, December 11, 2021, and found it to be laugh-out-loud hilarious, a bit trashy, a bit tongue-in-cheek, and ever-so-much-fun. The dialogue is set in rhyme, and Erin Maguire, a multi-talented stage and television actor and New York based stand-up comic/writer/and podcast host nailed the rhyme time as well as the rap dialogue and delivered a performance that rocked the audience.

Who’s Holiday!
Doing a one-person show for 70 minutes performed without an intermission can be daunting for an actor, however, Erin Maguire is no stranger to the role of Cindy Lou Who. She also performed this role Off-Broadway and has numerous television, stage, comedy club gigs, and writing credits to her name. Her comedic timing was spot on as she rhymed, rapped, sang, and engaged the audience for a memorable performance.

Matthew Lombardo’s dialogue is pure camp and rollicking fun meant for adult-only audiences, Director Kevin Connors brings out the best from his cast, the costume design by Diane Vanderkroef is over-the-top perfect "Whoville" chic, as is the wig design by Bobbiepinz. MTC regulars, Lindsay Fuori (scenic design), RJ Romeo (lighting design), and Sean Sanford (prop design), all help to contribute to the success of the play.
