Whisky, Whiskey, Bourbon, Rye, and Sour Mash were all available for tasting during Whisky Live New York 2019, and we judiciously made our way through the offerings, of which there were too many to experience all of them. We bring you a few of the many highlights of the evening to provide a delectable “taste” of Whisky Live New York.
Bourbon Tastings
Garrison Brothers Distillery
Bourbon is an American spirit that must be made in the United States. As America’s darling, as well as one of our favorite spirits, many states are producing this potent potable. Over the course of the evening we tasted Bourbon produced in many different states.
Michter’s
From Texas there was Balcones and Garrison Brothers Distillery. Kentucky was well represented with Maker’s Mark, Knob Creek, Basil Hayden, Booker’s Bourbon, Michter’s, and Yellowstone.
Coppersea Distilling
From New York there was Hudson Valley New York Coppersea Distilling, Saint Lawrence Spirits, and Kings County Distilling, and from Virginia there was Filibuster Bourbon.

Bellevoye Whisky Triple Malt
We felt like we should have brought our passport for country stamps as we tasted our way around the world beginning in France with Bellevoye Whisky Triple Malt Finition Sauternes. We then “traveled” to England tasting their Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky.
Cotwolds Single Malt Whisky
Next stop was Scotland where we tasted Bowmore Islay Single Malt aged 12 years, Glengoyne, Laphraoaig, and Loch Lomond, and from the house of Bruichladdich there was Port Charlotte Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt, Islay Barley 2011, and The Classic Laddie.
The Classic Laddie
Ireland brought Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey, from Ireland’s Oldest Licensed Distillery, and The House of Suntory from Japan brought out a full complement of their whiskies including Hibiki, Toki, and Yamazaki, as well as their vodka and gin.

We attended a very interesting Masterclass presented by David Harper representing the Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey brand where we learned about the differences between Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey and tasted both their Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey ($65) and their Uncle Nearest 1820 Premium Whiskey ($110).
