The Firefly Inn, part of The Kent Collection, is a luxury boutique Inn with nine gorgeous guestrooms (two of them are fireplace suites) located at 88 North Main Street in the heart of Kent, Connecticut. Set on two acres, The Firefly is all about New England charm from its gorgeous white and black exterior to its sweeping expanse of lawn where guests can play croquet or cornhole. Sumptuous surroundings, a baby grand piano in the Living Room, well-appointed guestrooms, complimentary snacks, and the utmost in gracious hospitality make The Firefly incredibly special.
We stayed at The Firefly Inn in early Spring, in March 2025, and fell in love with the Inn, and with its sister property, The Victorian, (which has 5 guestrooms) located directly across the street, where we had also spent a night. The Kent Collection consists of five very unique and attractive properties, The Victorian, The Firefly Inn, and The Garden Cottages that all offer boutique luxury accommodation.
The Firefly Inn has nine elegantly appointed guest rooms, two of them are suites with gas fireplaces located on the first floor. All of the guest rooms are luxurious and unique, seven of the guest rooms have king beds, and two of the rooms are flex rooms, meaning that they can be made up as a king bed or as a guestroom with two twin beds.

Guestroom
We stayed in The Peter Starbuck Fireplace Suite (Room 1), named in honor of the former Innkeeper. This spacious, bright, and airy suite located in the front of the Inn, had a king bed dressed in luxurious linens, with a gas fireplace to add a touch of romance, positioned between two sliding doors that led out to a private patio.
Gorgeous art graced the walls to add interest, and a wet bar with refrigerator and sink stood at the ready. The large ensuite bathroom featured a walk-in shower and a deep soaking tub with luxurious amenities, along with plush robes. There was a small sitting area with a half-chair that could be made up into a twin bed if desired. Other appointments included a Smart TV hung over the fireplace, and WiFi.

Breakfast Area
The Firefly Inn offers lovely complimentary teas, coffees, hot cocoa, yogurt, granola, juices, bottled water, and a variety of snacks in their sunny breakfast room with its bright floral wallpaper, perfect to start your day or whenever you need a little pick me up. White Windsor back chairs flank round white tables dressed in colorful placemats and linen napkins, and pitchers of Spring flowers add to the overall cheerfulness of the room.

Dining Room
There is also a larger Dining Room for families or groups to enjoy a beverage, snack, or play a game or two in front of the gas fireplace. Gallery-worthy paintings grace the walls, and sliding doors lead out to a spacious patio out back where tables and chairs and sun umbrellas, as well as comfortable outdoor sofas invite guests to come and relax or enjoy take-away food from one of the nearby restaurants.

Living Room
The Living Room is pure indulgence with its baby grand piano, available for guests to use, and comfortable furniture flanking a gas fireplace. When we saw the piano, we both wished we had paid more attention to learning how to play when we were children and had to settle for playing one of the many games available.

Guest Patio
For guests that desire a bit of adventure, The Firefly offers guests the use of four complimentary bicycles (two men’s no-speed bicycles and two women’s no-speed bicycles) as well as helmets, and they set up croquet on the back lawn and cornhole in warmer months. There are also four blue lounge chairs set at the edge of the property perfect for those who prefer more leisurely adventures like soaking up the sunshine or reading a book or magazine.
The Firefly is not only gorgeous to look at, but it is also the little extra indulgences and gracious hospitality that make it such a welcoming and inviting experience. Until next time, sweet dreams!
