Mezcal Trascendente made from 100% maguey in Oaxaca, Mexico, is a smooth and velvety artisanal joven (young) espadín mezcal. Imported by SPIRIBAM USA, this delectable crystal clear mezcal is a treat to use in a variety of cocktail creations including our recipes for Mezcal & Maple, Summer Crush, and Let’s Get Married – We Can’t Elope. Look for the attractive tall bottle with the hummingbird on the Mezcal Trascendente label. Cheers, it’s cocktail time!
Interesting to note about mezcal is that while tequila is wider known, mezcal is actually older than tequila and is considered to be one of the oldest spirits in the Americas. Although both tequila and mezcal are made in Oaxaca, Mexico from the agave plant, tequila uses only one type of agave, the blue agave, whereas mezcal uses a variety of agaves. There are three categories of mezcal defined by the Consejo Regulador del Mezcal (CRM): Mezcal (Industrial), Mezcal Artesanal, and Mezcal Ancestral. Mezcal Trascendente is in the Mezcal Artesanal category.
About Mezcal Trascendente
“Our mezcal production process prioritizes sustainability and respect for nature, guided by ancestral wisdom that reminds us we are all connected. Through pollinator-friendly gardens, ethical agave sourcing, and intentional craft, we keep alive the spirit and sustainability of ancient traditions.”
“We believe every living being, from plants to hummingbirds, holds a soul and purpose. Our initiatives aim to preserve these ecosystems, restore hummingbird habitats, and promote a culture of respect for nature and ancestral traditions.”
“Nestled in the Tlacolula de Matamoros Valley, a sacred land of the Zapotec people and a UNESCO World Heritage site, we find the ideal environment to craft our mezcal. This remarkable valley offers agave rich in natural sugars, pristine spring water, and a balanced ecosystem that nurtures exceptional mezcal production.”
“Our process is a harmonious blend of tradition and care, resulting in a mezcal that is remarkably smooth and beautifully expresses the agave’s authentic aromas and flavors. Staying true to natural methods, we honor the agave’s transformation through wild fermentation and a meticulous double distillation process, where we carefully separate the heart of the mezcal from the heads and tails. By minimizing smoke exposure, we achieve a refined spirit that embodies the purity of its origins.”

Luxury Experience – Summer Crush
Fresh, sweet strawberries are the essence of summer, and for our cocktail, Luxury Experience – Summer Crush, we mix Mezcal Trascendente, Clément Créole Shrubb Orange Liqueur, Noilly Prat Extra Dry Vermouth, with muddled strawberries, lime, mint, and sugar. We rimmed the glass with Tajin (a traditional Mexican spice mix sold in stores) and garnished the cocktail with fresh mint.

Blended with Mezcal Trascendente, fresh cantaloupe, fresh squeezed lime juice, and agave nectar, this oh so tasty cocktail is finished with a round ice ball frozen with sprigs of fresh rosemary for visual appeal and garnished with fresh cantaloupe balls skewered with fresh rosemary to add aromatics.
