The setting of Moon Over Buffalo is 1953 at the Erlander Theatre in Buffalo, New York. The plot is two aging, fading, and down on their luck actors, George and Charlotte Hay, are in Buffalo, New York where they and their cast of five alternately present the plays Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives. Greatly reduced from their illustrious Broadway and Hollywood pasts, the two struggle to stay ahead financially. Throw in intertwining romances, mistaken identity, and a dizzyingly crazy cast of characters and you have the makings for an evening of gaiety, a place to forget your troubles for a while and just laugh at their zany, hilarious antics.

We saw the play on opening night, Saturday, February 8, 2025, and Director Clint Hromsco, whom we had seen in his role as Casey in the Music Theatre of Connecticut’s production of The Legend of Georgia McBride, worked his magic to elicit the best from his talented cast including the highly credentialed Rod Brogan (Broadway, Off-Broadway, Films and Television), and Anna Holbrook (NY Stage, Films, and Television: she earned a Daytime Emmy for her many years as Sharlene Frame on Another World).

Throughout the years, we have had the pleasure of seeing Jo Anne Parody in prior MTC productions (Lend Me A Tenor, I Hate Hamlet), along with Matt Mancuso (Ghost: The Musical, Clybourne Park, Jersey Boys), Allie Seibold (Ghost: The Musical, Clybourne Park), and Jim Schilling, Managing Director & MTC Co-Founder, (Sylvia, It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, Lend Me A Tenor, Master Class), and it was a joy to watch them in action again. Rounding out the cast were new to MTC actors, Olivia Fenton as the ditzy Eileen, and Ted Gibson as the eager but bumbling Howard, both of whom also shined in their roles.
