The Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans, Louisiana brought their legendary brand of jazz to the Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut for an evening of exceptional music and gaiety. Synonymous with the New Orleans music scene, for the past 60 years, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band has captured the unique sound of "The Big Easy" with its intoxicating music.

If you have the opportunity to see multi-Grammy winner Brazilian Jazz pianist, singer, and composer Eliane Elias in concert, you should jump at the chance. We had the pleasure of catching her performance in Manhattan at The Iridium NYC on Friday, October 14, 2022, part of a 4-night gig (October 13 – 16, 2022), to celebrate the launch of her latest album, Quietude, released on the Candid Records label.

We spent a perfect Sunday afternoon at The Cutting Room in New York City for the launch party for Pat Petrillo’s new album, The Pat Petrillo Big Rhythm Band – The Power Station Sessions released on the Autumn Hill Records label. While we had reviewed the album, we had never heard him play live before and thought it was high time that we did. It proved to be an extra special afternoon listening to sensational live instrumental jazz.

Seeing The LEGEND, the modern adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, performed in The Village of Sleepy Hollow, was the perfect way to get a jump start on Halloween! Created and performed by the talented team from Westchester Circus Arts, the legendary tale was told through holograms, aerialists, and acrobats, for a sensational, totally immersive experience. If you love Halloween, you must see The LEGEND, which runs until October23, 2022.

The Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut delivered another exceptional, sensational, and unique cultural experience with nora chipaumire’s opera, Nehanda, "protest, legal gathering, world making." Performed in its entirety, the opera lasted just shy of 5 hours with the audience seated on stage for a most incredible and fantastic evening of exploration and learning. Bravo!

As oyster lovers, when we heard about theSeaport Association Oyster Festival presented by First County Bank in Norwalk, Connecticut, we knew that it was an event we wanted to attend. What we did not expect was the high-caliber of different entertainment for the 3-day festival, including Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot, which took place from September 9 – 11, 2022 at the 35-acre Veteran’s Memorial Park.

We had the pleasure of experiencing Los Otros, a new musical premiering in New York City, presented by Premieres NYC and Mary J. Davis, starring Broadway veterans Luba Mason and Caesar Samayoa, at A.R.T./New York Theatres located at 502 West 53rd Street in Manhattan on Friday, September 9, 2022. The play 4000 Miles written by Amy Herzog and directed by David Kennedy at the Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, Connecticut hits it out of the park. Starring Mia Dillon, Clay Singer, Lea DiMarchi, and Phoebe Holden, this engaging, heart-rendering play had us in the palm of its hand and thoroughly enchanted with the dialogue and the characters. Bravo! The play runs until September 4, 2022.

The band Steely Dan rocked The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, with their EARTH after hours tour. We had the distinct pleasure of experiencing their Friday, August 12, 2022, performance, part of their 3-night gig at the historic venue, where fans packed the house for the closing end of a fabulous tour.
