The Table at 3 Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey has an impressive and very talented trio at the helm of this gorgeous new restaurant that opened the first week in July 2023 with restaurant veterans Chef Dan Latham as the talent in the kitchen, General Manager Jefferson Barragan, and Beverage Manager Paul Lemonier. Located on the street level of the luxury apartment building 3 Acres, there is ample and convenient parking in the lot opposite the restaurant making parking a dream at this fabulous West Side of Jersey City restaurant.

We had an excellent dinner on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the newly opened, stylish, industrial chic and hip restaurant with its exposed pipes, exposed brick and tiled walls, high backed leather banquettes, white marble tables, and its floor to ceiling wall of windows. Danish-modern large chandeliers softly illuminated, while contemporary artwork graced the walls and added to the overall attractive ambience. When we drive from Connecticut and need to drive over the George Washington Bridge with its daunting traffic delays, you know that the restaurant must be good, and indeed, The Table at 3 Acres was well-worth the drive and the traffic.

The cocktail and culinary menus are spot-on fabulous delivering flavors and presentations that go well beyond the menu descriptions. The inspired and curated cocktail menu features Signature cocktails, Table Classics, and has very tempting Zero Proof Cocktails as well. The restaurant also offers a selection of wines by the glass, and a variety of beers.

We began our evening at The Table at 3 Acres sitting at the bar and sampling three of their Signature Cocktails expertly crafted by Beverage Consultant Juan Arboleda, beginning with the Pica Pica, which he made with Mezcal, jalapeno and rosemary infused syrup, Angostura bitters, lime juice, and garnished with a dehydrated jalapeno infused piece of ginger. This was a wow of a cocktail, perfectly balanced with enough jalapeno to wake you up without overpowering your palate and taking over the other flavors.

The next cocktail we sampled was the Big In Japan cocktail made with Alkkemist Gin, yuzu, basil, Thai chili, orange juice, and lemon juice. This was another winner that was well-crafted, had layered nuances of flavors, and was attractively garnished with three basil leaves to entice the nose with its aromas before sipping.

The last of the pre-dinner cocktails was the Justice For Barb, attractively served in a tulip glass, made with Alkkemist Gin, Aperol, rhubarb puree, sparkling rosé, lemon juice, and garnished with a torched sage, once again to entice the nose with its herbal aromas before sipping.

Once seated at a high-backed lather banquette by the wall of windows, we were able to take time to look at the well-crafted culinary menu which consists of Shares, Salads, Sandwiches, Pizza, (the restaurant has special pizza ovens), Mains, Sides, and Desserts.

We began our tasting dinner by sampling three of their Shares, the Hand-Made Burrata served with basil pesto, tomato, arugula, and garlic, their Crispy Cauliflower with yogurt-fig-cucumber sauce, and avocado salsa verde, and the Veggie Dumplings (also offered as Chicken Dumplings), which could be pan-fried or steamed with ginger soy dipping sauce.

The Hand-Made Burrata was excellent, and the combination of flavors for the Crispy Cauliflower would make vegetable fans of non-vegetable eaters. We opted to have the Veggie Dumplings pan-fried and they were crispy perfection with enough veggie filling to satisfy. Each of the Shares were well-prepared and presented with layered flavor nuances that introduced us to Chef Dan Latham’s culinary style.

The Shares were paired with two more of their delicious cocktails, the Pornstar Martini made with Unkkoded Vanilla-Infused Vodka, passion fruit, vanilla, lime juice, and prosecco, and the Spicy Pineapple Margarita made with G4 Tequila Blanco, Orange Curacao, agave, pineapple juice, and lime juice, from the Table Classics cocktail menu.

From the Mains section, we selected the Sesame Crusted Organic Salmon, and the Braised Short Rib. The salmon was gorgeous with its black sesame crust nestled on a bed of jasmine rice, with red peppers, broccoli, spinach, and mushrooms, and garnished with ruffled pickled ginger. A very tasty wasabi mustard sauce added zing to this fabulous entrée. The Braised Short Rib was also another stunner, as it was fork-tender, bathed in a flavorfully rich red wine root vegetable sauce, and accompanied by creamy chive mashed potatoes.

Downtown Bread Pudding

The restaurant has a small, but well-curated dessert menu, and we opted to share their Downtown Bread Pudding (at Juan’s suggestion), which was topped with salted caramel sauce and dulce de leche ice cream. The bread pudding, served warm, and topped with a generous mound of dulce de leche ice cream was over-the-top wonderful. Befitting our cocktail and culinary pairing dinner, our dessert was paired with two more of their cocktails to sample, the Café Dulce de Leche, and the Espresso Martini made with Unkkoded Vodka, Mr. Black, and espresso.

After dinner we had the opportunity to meet with Chef Dan Latham and see the kitchen and learned that in addition to the special pizza ovens, the restaurant also has a rotisserie for chicken, which provides us with another reason to come back and experience more of their delicious offerings.

Until next time, cheers and Bon Appetit!
