We attended the Seaport Oyster Festival on Saturday, September 10, 2022, and arrived at 3:30 pm in the afternoon and left at 11:00 pm, so we did indeed enjoy ourselves. There were different bands in the Beer Tent beginning at noon and running on the hour with the last band performing at 9:00 pm, which included Rubberband, Paul Tabachneck, Vetted, Carole Sylvan, Go 33, The Name Droppers, Incidental Contact, Otis and the Hurricanes, Old School 203, and the Dave Kardas Band. On the Main Stage, there were three performances with Orquesta Afinke at 2:00 pm, followed by Alex Shillo at 7:30 pm, and Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot performing at 8:30 pm.

While we missed the 2:00 pm performance on the Main Stage, we were lucky to catch the young and talented singer, songwriter, guitarist Alex Shillo and his band. Joining Alex on guitar, were Justin Sotia on rhythm guitar, Ron Caron on Saxophone, Michael Tinti on bass and support vocals. Zachary Pederson on drums, and Marty Wirt on synth/keys. They started the party off with Alex’s song, Had It All, continued with You Only Love Me When You’re Drinking. Don’t Think Twice, The Next Big Thing and Too Late followed with some great sax work by Ron Caron who played with Clarence Clemmons of the E Street Band. The band closed their performance with the song, American Girl.

Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot, celebrating the music of Billy Joel, took to the stage and played to an enthusiastic and appreciative audience, providing 2 solid hours of world-caliber entertainment. We had the pleasure of seeing Mike DelGuidice playing with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden in May 2022, so to have the opportunity to see him perform with his own band at an open-air, more intimate concert was truly thrilling.
Mike DelGuidice
Just coming off playing with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden in New York the night before, with a tour underway, Mike and his band opened with the Billy Joel song, My Life (off the 52nd Street album released in 1978).
Tom "TJ" Jordan and Mark Feinberg
Next on the playlist was Vienna, from Billy Joel’s The Stranger album, followed by This Is The Time off The Bridge album from 1986, that Mike joked was everybody’s prom song. Mike continued the 1970s groove with the Gerry Rafferty song, Baker Street, then showed off his songwriting prowess with his song, Mona Lisa, which he wrote for the Kevin James show.

Next came the Elton John song, Levon, from the 1971 album Madman Across The Water. Mike and the band continued with another fabulous Billy Joel song, New York State Of Mind from the 1976 Turnstiles album. Forging ahead with classic rock, the band segued into Journey’s Some Day Love Will Find You from 1983 off the Frontiers album, followed by Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love from 1969 (Led Zeppelin II).
Michael Tinti
Giving the band a break, it was just Mike at the piano for the Billy Joel song, She’s Always a Woman off the 1977 The Stranger album. Switching to guitar, he played a touching ballad that he wrote for his son, Colby, called Where Do the Heroes Go? The audience joined in singing with Mike and his piano on the 1971 John Denver song, Take Me Home, Country Roads, followed by another great Elton John song, Tiny Dancer, also from 1971.
Pat Falco
The band returned to the stage to join Mike on We Can’t Stop The Fire with Pat Falco on bass and Joe De Jesu on acoustic guitar working their string magic. Tom "TJ" Jordan rocked out on a hard driving solo on the Billy Joel song, It’s Still Rock And Roll To Me from the Glass Houses album. Keeping The Faith, off An Innocent Man album, and Billy Joel’s Only The Good Die Young off The Stranger from 1977 followed.
Just when we thought it could not get much better than what we had already heard, the band segued into You May Be Right from the Glass Houses album. When the band slid into The Longest Time, the audience was on its feet, dancing and partying the night away at the Seaport Oyster Festival in Norwalk as Mike Sorrentino closed out the song and the concert with a rollicking drum solo.
After a standing ovation, Mike and the band returned to play two more great Billy Joel songs, Piano Man and Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. It was an exceptional night of music at the 44th annual Seaport Oyster Festival!
The evening concluded with a laser light show featuring the music of Pink Floyd under a full-moon sky that was the perfect culmination of fun, great music, and exciting entertainment throughout the day and into the evening.
Chef Matt Storch
Since the name of the event was the Seaport Oyster Festival, in case you were wondering about whether or not there were any oysters there, yes, indeed there were, and we happily indulged in eating them, raw, as well as fried, served by Celebrity Chef Matt Storch ofMatch Burger Lobster .
Grilled Oysters
While the Seaport Oyster Festival was new to us in 2022, it will definitely be on our calendar to attend next year, and you should, too.
