We brought on the romance at the luxurious Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa located in on the northwest Caribbean coast in Choc. Bay Castries, Gros Islet Highway, Choc, on the beautiful island of St. Lucia. This all-inclusive adults-only luxury hotel has 3 swimming pools, 9 restaurants, a well-appointed spa with a plethora of treatment options, a fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts, table tennis, Jenga, beach Volleyball, entertainment, watersports activities, a white sandy beach, and all the bells and whistles that you could hope for in a gorgeous island location.
The property is stunning with its tropical landscaping graced with Coconut Palms that undulate in the breezes, colorful magenta and white Bougainvillea that resemble tissue paper, ruffled Copperleaf edged in white, Red Ginger, Nerium, Golden Trumpet, Fountainbush, Scarlet Jungleflame, Moses-in-the-cradle, Optunia (Prickly Pear) cactus, and more.
We stayed in the Preferred Club Master Suite Swim Out King located at the top of the property where we had a direct water view of the Caribbean Sea from which to watch the spectacular sunsets and swim in our own private pool. There are 4 Preferred Club Buildings, and 3 Preferred Club Bungalows, in addition to other accommodations located on the main level of the property.

Our well-appointed suite featured a king bed dressed in an assortment of pillows to ensure sweet dreams. Reading lights and nightstands flanked the bed, and a large ceiling fan provided additional cooling in addition to the air conditioning.

In the separate living room, there was another ceiling fan, a sofa bed with decorative pillows, a small round coffee table, and a well-stocked closet with robes, slippers, umbrella, steamer, and safe, and a mini refrigerator stocked with complimentary bottles of water, sodas, tonic, juice, a bottle of wine, the local beer, Piton Lager Beer Lucian Carnival edition, and Heineken beer. There was also an Illy coffee maker with Illy coffees and a selection of teas, along with snacks.
The spacious bathroom featured double sinks, a makeup/shaving mirror, hairdryer, a selection of toiletries, a walk-in shower with large rain shower head as well as hand-held shower, and separate enclosed toilet.
The centerpiece of the suite was the private pool, which reached through the sliding glass door in the bedroom as well as from the living room. The covered lanai had a large round table and four chairs, which were perfect to enjoy a coffee in the morning. The bi-level pool featured two lounge chairs that were perfectly positioned in the water to overlook the Caribbean Sea, take a snooze in the sun, or to read a book.

Preferred Club Pool Bar
Secrets St. Lucia Resorts & Spa came under the Hyatt brand one year ago, and the service was excellent. For the Preferred Club guests, there was a separate check-in lounge with snacks throughout the day, and a dedicated team of butlers to arrange any services, including driving guests in a golf cart around the property. Preferred Club guests also had exclusive use of the Preferred Club Lounge Bar, and the Preferred Club Pool Bar.
There are 9 restaurants to appeal to diverse palates, and there are bars located throughout the property, including a swim-up bar, and a bar with rope swings, which of course, we had to try – such fun! The restaurants include Oceana for fresh seafood and stunning views of the water, Portofino for Italian cuisine, Himitsu for Pan-Asian food and Hibachi/Teppanyaki Table, Morgan’s Pier for French cuisine that if you were any closer to the water you would need to be dining on a boat, Barefoot Grill for Light Lunch, Seaside Grill, Market Café, L’ Creperie, and Coco Café where we were obsessed with their Frappuccino’s and indulged in them daily.

St. Lucian Breakfast
We also had to try the St. Lucian Breakfast at Oceana for Preferred Club guests, which is the national dish of the island made with sliced green bananas (called green figs) topped with saltfish, cucumber salad, and accompanied by “bakes” a type of biscuit made with flour, yeast, baking soda and some water, which can be either fried or baked in the oven (and called roasted bakes).
We loved it so much that we asked our server, Tiffany, how to make it and learned that you first boil the green bananas with or without the peel, she peels her bananas, then you slice them up. The saltfish is soaked for several days, changing the water throughout the process, then it is cooked and flaked. The next step is to add some garlic, some onions, some veggies, whatever you want to add, to the saltfish and then season it up. This dish is usually served with cucumber or a salad. It was so delicious that we enjoyed it for two breakfasts during our stay.

Beach time was especially enjoyable with its soft sandy beach dotted with pretty palapas and lounge chairs. The resort is situated on the coast of the Caribbean Sea with calm waters to swim, snorkel, take out a kayak or paddleboard, take a lesson, or take a ride on a Hobie Cat. Beach Volleyball is also an option, as well as boat tours for guests that want to explore further. We enjoyed swimming in the calm waters, snorkeling, and taking a ride on a Hobie Cat. While we have had many adventures throughout the world, this was our first time on a Hobie Cat, which is a small twin-hulled lightweight catamaran sailboat, and we loved it!

Let’s Ride!
For those that want to do more than relax, swim in one of the many pools, or play in the water, there are tennis and pickleball courts, and table tennis, as well as Jenga, for casual fun. There are hourly activities throughout the day, and nightly entertainment from 6:00 pm until midnight.

HMMM!
After experiencing The Spa at Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa, it should be on your “must do” list when a planning a trip to the resort. The welcoming well-appointed attractive Spa has 7 state-of-the-art treatment rooms and an enviable treatment menu that ranges from facials, specialized massages, special services, signature treatments including volcanic mud, and much more. We had a 50-minute Couple’s Massage, and it was heavenly.

We fell in love with the island’s hospitality and personality, and we cannot wait to return to Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa where you are greeted with a gracious Welcome Home, a cold towel, and rum cocktail (or mocktail) as a way of welcoming you to the resort.
Until next time, sweet dreams!
