Cancun rolls out the red carpet for the grand opening of Luxury Avenue!
The cameras flashed as celebrities and invited VIP guests arrived from around the world, stepped out of limos and walked down the red carpet under a canopy of multi-hued red and orange lights for the grand opening of Luxury Avenue at Kukulcan Plaza in Cancun, Mexico on May 6, 2005, and of course, Luxury Experience Magazine was there, walking the red carpet!
Ana Laura Cambi of Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Emcee of the event, introduced Elena Villarreal, President of Grupo UltraFemme, the owner of Luxury Avenue, which is her latest project after 30 years in the industry. After a welcome speech, Ms. Villearreal untied the red ribbon, and with perfect timing, the fireworks exploded to celebrate the evening, and the cocktails and the champagne flowed.
Once inside, guests were treated to a fashion show of exquisite jewelry and innovative fashions, where some of the models included Annette Michelle of Aztec Television, Marta Christiana who modeled for the jewelry designer Daniel Espinosa, and the actress Kate Del Castillo who modeled for Tous.
Le Meridien Cancun Resort & Spa catered the cocktail reception, where guests indulged in hip new cocktails, sipped tequila and sampled the seemingly endless creative culinary delights of Chef Yann Giacomoni. I had the opportunity to meet with Chef Yann for a few minutes to learn more about this innovative chef. Originally from Nice, France, he joined Le Meridien Cancun Resort & Spa nine months ago, after working at other Le Meridien properties in Egypt, Indonesia, New Caledonia and in the United States.
The techno band, Telefunka – Giancarlo Fragoso (guitar, saxophone, and vocal recorder), his brother Aldo Fragoso (electric banjo, programming and sequencing), and Daniel Padilla (acoustic and electric violin), dressed in bright orange worksuits, added their individual style to the electric ambience of the evening, as guests danced to their techno music in the aisles of Luxury Avenue.
The luxury shops were open, and guests browsed and shopped for gifts in Lalique, Lladro, Christofle, Baccarat, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermenegildo Zegna, Tous, Swarovski Crystal, Tiffany & Co, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, and Longchamp, as well as purchased cosmetics and perfumes from Chanel, la prairie, Christian Dior, Issey Miyake, Clinique, Sisley, and Clarins among the many prestigious offerings.
At the end of the evening, guests received “goody bags” filled with surprises from the luxury shops, as a reminder of the grand opening of Luxury Avenue and luxury duty-free shopping in Cancun.
