Believing in Oneself PDF Print E-mail
Written by Debra C. Argen
Although the adage is, "Good things come to those who wait", I believe that it should be, "Good things come to those who persevere." For the last 30 years, my brother-in-law Peter Moskal has played in a City Amateur Golf Tournament, an annual golf event that attracts top golfers from around the region. Peter, an avid golfer, devoted husband, and father of two daughters, has persevered long and hard, and although he has come close to winning the City Am on many occasions, coming in second and third repeatedly, winning has always been just out of his reach.

On July 17, 2011, his years of determination, perseverance, and hard work finally paid off, as he won the "City Am" with a two-day score of 145, having shot a 69 with 2-under par lead on the first day, and a 74 on the second day, winning the tournament by a 2-stroke lead.

Peter Moskal played his first City Am tournament at the age of 20, and 30 years later, at age 50, he entered in the Senior Division, and this Rookie was charged to win. Speaking with Peter shortly after his win, I could hear the emotion and the elation in his voice at finally winning after playing in the tournament for so many years. He said that after coming in second and third so many times, he was determined to finally win, and he did.

Imagine what it must have been like for Peter to keep on trying for 30 years, coming so close to winning on many occasions falling just short of what it took to win yet always hopeful and confident that there was a win in the future for him. Peter never gave up on his dream or in his belief that he could win, and it is this belief that culminated in his winning the tournament and the realization of a 30-year dream.

Whether in business or in life, how many of us do not go that extra mile, do not keep persevering, do not believe enough in ourselves, our companies, and our abilities when faced with obstacles and tough challenges? How much easier would it have been for Peter to give up his dream or to accept less than winning, yet he did not. Congratulations Peter on achieving your goal, and let him be an example to all of us to keep on persevering despite all odds, because success indeed, comes to those who persevere. What are you waiting for to achieve your goals?  Why not let Luxury Experience Company help you achieve your "win."
