2006 Wow What a Year It Was! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Edward F. Nesta

Saying Goodbye to any year is hard, but for 2006 it was especially hard with all the unbelievable places, restaurants, chefs, spas, products, music and more that we experienced.

As we get ready for the December Holiday Season I would like to thank the readers of Luxury Experience Magazine for their support. Luxury Experience Magazine has enjoyed ‘Bringing the Experience of Luxury to You," throughout 2006, and we have some outstanding places, faces, and products for 2007. The heart and soul of Luxury Experience Magazine is you the reader. We have experienced exponential growth in readership during 2006.

If you are looking for a quick getaway for the upcoming holiday please check out the Destinations and Hotels and Resorts sections, and for that extra pampering don't forget to toss in a Spa experience from the Spas section. For that last minute gift we have some great wines in our Wine Cellar, top of the line liquors in the Liquor Cabinet and of course there are some great ideas in the Luxury Products section. Luxury Experience would be grateful if you mentioned to the hotel, tour board, spa, restaurant, etc., that you read about their product in Luxury Experience Magazine.

So, what exciting Destinations did we cover in Luxury Experience Magazine for 2006? We were in Sicily; West Sweden; Abaco, Bahamas; Stockholm, Sweden; Bodrum, Turkey; Berlin, Germany; New York City; Istanbul, Turkey; Martinique; Copenhagen, Jutland, and Funen, Denmark; and Lucerne and Interlaken, Switzerland. We have many exciting and exotic destinations scheduled for 2007, so please Subscribe to our free monthly newsletter and you will be notified each month on the latest articles. Besides all of the great destinations I listed for 2006, we have many other destinations, which may be found in the Destination section.

Our journeys took us to twelve of the most exquisite Hotels and Resorts, each one excelling in service, exuding luxury, and each focused on the guest's experience during their stay.

We experienced (dined) and wrote about no less than 30 Restaurants, of which many held a Michelin rating. In addition to great restaurants from around the world, we have Chefs' Recipes from around the world, which are available in English and in some cases in the country's native language. So, if you are looking for inspiration for your next dinner party then you need to take a look at the recipes in the Chefs' Recipes section.

A bit of relaxing was needed due to all of our travels, and we partook of seven unbelievable Spas during our journeys. The Spa experience is growing at a fast pace with many new concepts and treatments offered; we had the luxury experience to have tried many new spa concepts and treatments, which you can read about in the Spas section.

For the Adventurous reader, we wrote about driving a Volvo through West Sweden, driving a Porsche 911 Carrera S through Switzerland, we went paragliding in Interlaken, Switzerland, horseback riding and tree rappelling in Martinique, golfing on the first Tropical Links course in the Bahamas, and more (see Adventures section).

We attended the 4th Annual Tales of The Cocktail in New Orleans and enjoyed our stay in this City that has come back strong and proud. In addition, we attended numerous wine and spirits tastings, took a cooking class on Tapas at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE), attended wine auctions at Christie's, and took a Master Class in Wine Cocktails (see Events, Wine Cellar and Liquor Cabinet sections).

With respect to one of our passions, wine and spirits, we wrote about some great wines, such as Marsala wines, Marques de Tomares 2001, and  Marques de Tomares Gran Reserva 1996 to mention a few in the Wine Cellar section. In addition, we wrote about fabulous liquors and liqueurs in the Liquor Cabinet section, such as Depaz Blue Cane Rhum, Xellent Swiss Vodka, La Favorite Rhum, Clement Rhum, Neisson Rhum Agricole, Leblon Cachaça, Zen Green Tea Liqueur, Yamazaki Whisky, Heavy Water Vodka, and Pallini Peachello and Raspicello.

The Music Scene was outstanding in 2006 and it looks that way for 2007. We covered musicians from six different countries crossing the genres of jazz, adult contemporary, rock-n-roll, Celtic, Brazilian, and more. Music is not about the classification, but about the music and the musicians such as the Yellowjackets, Jeff Healey, Jay McShann, MacTalla Mor, Tommaso Starace, Yashmin and Paul Abler, Phil Brown, and Theresa Andersson to list a few; we also had the opportunity to interview many of the great artists.

All in all, 2006 was a fabulous year and the team at Luxury Experience Magazine enjoyed "Bringing the Experience of Luxury To You." We look forward to exceeding your expectations in 2007.

For your reference, all of the articles and all of the references to products or people may be found in their respective sections of Luxury Experience Magazine, or by using the Search feature.

Anyway, the holiday season is upon us, and this is the time that we should be merry. So, I have put aside 10 minutes each night to reflect and also to get ready to have more Luxury Experiences for 2007.

Have a Happy Holiday Season and a Prosperous New Year!

I thank you for your continued support of Luxury Experience Magazine, and as always, your comments are welcome, so please send comments to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
