On Sunday, July 7, 2019, we had the pleasure of hearing the new sound at the Wall Street Theater in Norwalk, Connecticut, for their Down to the River tour to promote their debut release which hit the streets on June 28, 2019. It was a "wow" of an evening of music.

The Wall Street Theater in Norwalk, Connecticut has a long history dating back to 1914, and as such is charming and intimate. We had the pleasure of attending The Allman Betts Band concert there on Sunday, July 7,2019 and were impressed with the number of Fairfield County Blues Rock fans who flocked to the theater for an evening of outstanding music.

The Allman Betts Band comprised of Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman), Duane Betts (son of Dickie Betts), Berry Oakley, Jr. (son of Berry Oakley, bassist for the original Allman Brothers Band), John Stachela (slide guitar), percussionists R. Scott Bryan and John Lum, and Peter Levin (Gregg Allman’s Hammond B3 player) took to the stage with solid appreciation from the Connecticut fans, and opened with the song, All Night, followed by Melodies Are Memories, both cuts off the band’s debut release, Down To The River.

The band had the fans pumped up and singing along on their cover of the Tom Petty song, You Got Lucky. Next came Autumn Breeze, another cut off the new release. JD Simo came out and joined the band on the1956 John Lee Hooker song, Dimples, which provided fans with the opportunity to watch five amazingly talented guitarists in action. Interesting to note is that The Allman Brothers recorded the song, Dimples back in 1970.

The band closed the show with the title track of their new album, Down To The River. The fans gave the band a resounding standing ovation and were rewarded with another cut off the new album, Southern Accents, a spectacular song with its keyboard intro easing the way for Devon’s vocals and John Stachela’s guitar.

The rest of the band joined in for one last song of the night, Long Gone, which was the first song that Devon and Duane wrote for the Down To The River album as was fitting, as it is the last track on the album, to leave the fans humming along as they made their way into the night.
