Michael Silverman Backstory  

While St. Louis-based Michael Silverman was unknown to me before I gave a listen to his new album, Human Spirit, he is a highly accomplished and acclaimed composer, keyboardist and pianist in the Classic, World Music, and New Age genres, with 14 number one albums under his musical belt, and his music has been featured in films as well as on television shows. His brother, Rob Silverman, is a talented drummer, and together they founded and own Autumn Hill Records the largest instrumental music recording label.  

Michael Silverman's latest album, Human Spirit featuring Jeff Lorber, is his first foray into the world of Jazz, and he could not have picked a better writing partner than the multi-talented Grammy-award winner Jeff Lorber, whom Luxury Experience has had the pleasure of featuring throughout the years.  

For Michael Silverman - Human Spirit featuring Jeff Lorber album, Jeff brings many of the players that appeared on his 2013 Jeff Lorber Fusion - Hacienda album including Jimmy Haslip, Vinnie Colaiuta, Eric Marienthal, Michael Thompson, and Gary Novak. Together with Michael Silverman on piano, brother Rob Silverman on drums, David Benoit, and Adam Hawley, the release sparkles with a rich clarity of sound.

Listening to Human Spirit was like taking a musical journey into the past with some of my favorite Jazz artists including David Benoit, whom Luxury Experience has had the pleasure of reviewing many times beginning with his 2010 David Benoit - Earthglow release.  

Edward F. Nesta and I first saw Jimmy Haslip play with the Yellowjackets at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London back in 2005. We were there with our UK musician friend, Jazz composer, pianist, and owner of Splash Point Records, Neal Richardson, and his talented wife, accomplished musician and vocalist, Sue Richardson. Since then, I have had the pleasure of seeing Jimmy Haslip's amazing talent at many live performances as well as reviewing many albums he produced or played on.  

With such an incredible team of musical talent assembled, I had high hopes for this album, which exceeded my expectations. With his Human Spirit album, Michael Silverman clearly makes his mark in the world of Jazz, adding yet another genre to his long list of musical accomplishments.
