Grant Geissman wrote and arranged all of the compositions on Grant Geissman - Bop! Bang! Boom! which he produced with Paul Stilwell on the Futurism Records label.

The 12-track release opens with Boom that sets the mood, and has Grant Geissman playing a Gibson ES-335 electric guitar. Throughout the release, Grant works his guitar magic playing a wide variety of guitars to capture the desired sound for each of his songs.

The Singularity features some exceptionally fine piano work by Tom Ranier and horn work by Brian Scanlon on tenor saxophone. Q Tip (For Quincy Jones) with Tom Scott is a perfect tribute to the legendary Quincy Jones.

$25 Stella with Van Dyke Parks and Doug Lacey is a catchy tune with a toe-tapping beat which has Grant playing a 1966 Stella acoustic guitar and he gets a little help from Trey Henry on tuba, some trilling piano work by Emilio Palame, and interesting musical additions from Brian Kilgore playing washboard, spoons, and hubcap.

Texas Shuffle with Albert Lee and Larry Carlton will have you up on your feet moving to the groove. The track has three guitar solos featuring Grant playing a Valley Arts strat electric guitar and a Paul Reed Smith 305 electric guitar, Albert Lee playing a Music Man "Albert Lee" model electric guitar, and Larry Carlton playing a 1968 Gibson 335 and a Guild "Bluesbird" electric guitar.

Stay on your feet as the release segues into the Brazilian beat, Samba En Menor, which is gorgeous. Brian Kilgore conjures up the Brazilian rhythm playing pandero, shaker, and triangle, Alex Acuna contributes congas, bongos, tamborim, and "a go go" bells, Kevin Axt plays acoustic bass, Emilio Palame plays a Fender Rhodes piano, Brian Scanlon adds flute, Tom Ranier plays piano, and Grant plays a 1972 Hernandis Grade 1A classical guitar.

Guitarism (For Ron Purcell) slows the pace down a bit, and shows the guitar genius of Grant Geissman. It is a lovely classical guitar piece where Grant is the solo player on the track, playing a 1972 Hernadis Grade 1A as well as a 1975 Hernandis Grand Concert classical guitar, and intersperses handclaps, and guitar percussion.

Un Poco Español with Russell Ferrante features Russell Ferrante on a Fender Rhodes piano, and Grant switches to a 1972 Hernandis Grade 1A classical guitar for this inspired piece, with Brian Scanlon on alto saxophone, Kevin Axt on acoustic bass, and Ray Brinker on drums.

Go To The Window has a mystical feel with Grant playing a Jerry Jones electric sitar, Alex Acuna on frame drum, and Brian Kilgore playing tablas. Grant and Russell team up again for the song, Good Morning Mr. Phelps with Russell Ferrante with Grant this time playing a Gibson ES-335 electric guitar and Russell playing a Fender Rhodes piano.

Take Yer Time with Chuck Lorre, Dennis C. Brown, and Mike Finnigan may be one of my favorite songs on the release, with its slow and sexy rhythm that keeps the mood going and is perfect for dancing slow with your honey.

Off The Grid with Tom Scott picks the pace back up to leave you totally satisfied. This a great ensemble piece with Grant on a Gibson ES-335 electric guitar, Tom Scott contributing some nice horn work on alto saxophone, Jim Cox on Hammond B-3 organ, Emilio Palame on piano, Trey Henry on acoustic bass, Ray Brinker on drums, Alex Acuna on tambourine, and Brian Kilgore on congas and bongos.

Grant Geissman - Bop! Bang! Boom! is a release that makes you want to take the time to sit back, relax, read the incredible liner arts, and admire the cover art, which is something of a rarity these days, and just enjoy the music. From beginning to the end, it is a perfect listen.
