Product Information:
Magellan Iris Flavored Gin, 41.3% alcohol by volume, is imported from France by
Crillon Importers, Ltd. in Paramus, New Jersey. It is made in is small batches
at the Angeac Distillery in France from 100% Capet wheat grain and naturally
filtered and demineralized water from the Gensac spring in the Cognac region.
It is distilled three times in small batches in a column still, then distilled
one additional time in a small artisanal copper pot still where 11 different
botanicals, picked at their ripest and then sun-dried, including iris, juniper
berries, cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, grains of paradise, licorice, cinnamon,
coriander, orange peel, and cassia are vapor infused. The stunning blue color
derived from iris root and iris flower is as tantalizing as it is on the
palate. Magellan Gin is available in 750 ml, 1 -Liter, and 1.75 Liter bottles.
Bottle notes: "Inspired
by the spices Magellan discovered during his revolutionary expedition, Magellan
is distilled four times in small batches using fresh, exotic botanicals from
around the Globe. This Fresh Distillation process bestows Magellan with an
incomparable crisp, balanced flavor, and refreshingly smooth taste. Iris root and
flower bestow Magellan with the soothing spirit of the sky and the deep blue
sea."
Tasting Notes: Gin
is probably one of the most diverse spirits in the Liquor Cabinet as it varies
greatly from brand to brand depending on what types of botanicals they use as
well as the proportion of the botanicals used. Some gins are heavy on juniper
berry, others are lighter, and some gins are crisper, while others are softer.
The blend of botanicals used to create Magellan Gin imparts a very aromatic
nose. On the palate, it has a rich, spicy, and flavorful mouthfeel with a
pleasantly long and clean finish. Certain spice notes were more discernable to
our palates where we easily recognized cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and star
anise (licorice) notes. Overall, it was completely delicious.
With its rich and spicy flavor
components, Magellan Gin is perfectly at home in both cocktail and culinary
recipes. Luxury Experience was "In the kitchen and
behind the bar®" creating
some incredibly special handcrafted cocktail and culinary recipes to tempt your
palate and inspire your own creations using Magellan Gin.

Luxury Experience - Siren Call
Luxury Experience - Siren Call is
a playful reference to the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan (1480 - 1521)
for whom Magellan Gin is named. Traveling around the world Magellan may have
seen a few "mermaids" (sirens) in his day. Our cocktail combines Magellan Gin,
Hypnotiq Liqueur also made in France, with lemon juice and homemade mint syrup,
with a luscious "white cap" made with Fee
Brothers Fee Foam.
