Ooh lá,
Farigoule Herbal Thyme Liqueur made in Provence,
France and imported by Crillon
Importers, Ltd. Is c'est magnifique and the perfect
ingredient for delectable cocktails. As cocktalians, we are always on the
lookout for new spirits to inspire cocktail recipes. Farigoule Herbal Thyme
Liqueur is a delectable herbal liqueur made from thyme, verbena, angelica, and
sage that is perfect to sip neat, chilled over ice, or in used in cocktail or
culinary recipes to add layers of delectable flavors.
Product Information:
Farigoule Herbal Thyme Liqueur, 40% alcohol by volume/80 proof. Elegantly
packaged in 375-ml bottles with thyme illustrated on the label. Interesting to
note, the name Farigoule is the Provençal name for the herb thyme.
"Harvested in May when the
thyme is in flower. Immediately after they are harvested, the flower tops are
left to macerate in a mix of water and alcohol for two weeks. Added to the
maceration are tiny amounts of plants such as sage, lemon verbena, and angelica
to reinforce the typical Provençal flavor of our product. When the
aromatic fraction has been fully extracted, the infusion (the aromatic heart of
the extraction) and the plants still steeped in alcohol and flavor, are
distilled to seek out all the plant flavor, producing what is known as the
Fariguole spirit. Once the different components have been assembled, the Farigoule
is checked, tasted and filtered before being bottled."
While this spirit was new to us,
the making of Farigoule dates to 1898 and is "considered one of the oldest,
and most typical, liqueurs made by Distilleries et Domaines de Provence." Master
Distiller Yves Rafetteillo joined the distillery in 1981 and learned the
"secret" of making Farigoule from Jean Augier, a third-generation distiller
with multi-decade experience.
Tasting Notes: Its
rich golden color looks like liquid gold and the taste is superb. Heady
aromatics with herbal and honeysuckle sweet notes on the nose, with layers of
flavors and a lingering sweet, exotic finish on the palate help distinguish Farigoule
Herbal Thyme Liqueur, which may be enjoyed neat, served chilled or over ice, as
well used in cocktail or culinary recipes. It also makes a very tasty addition
when added to your coffee or tea.
Luxury Experience was "in the
kitchen and behind the bar®" creating some incredibly special handcrafted cocktails
and a culinary recipe to tempt your palate and inspire your own creations using
Farigoule Herbal Thyme Liqueur.

Method: Add kosher salt to
a large pot, add water and bring to a boil. Cook linguini al dente (or your
preferred level of doneness.)
Heat a large sauté pan. Add 2
tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons EVOO. Add the onions and a pinch of salt
and black pepper, cover, and sweat them until they are translucent. Add the
zucchini and green peppers and sauté until tender. Remove from the pan, spoon
them into a bowl and cover to keep warm.
Add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon EVOO, then add shrimp and 1-ounce
Farigoule Herbal Thyme Liqueur to glaze the shrimp. Remove shrimp from pan,
place in a bowl, and cover. Add the orange juice, lime juice and 1-ounce
Farigoule Herbal Thyme Liqueur to the pan and bring to a boil to slightly
reduce, scraping and stirring the pan with a rubber spatula to incorporate the
pan juices.
Using a blender, add one-half cup
of the sauteed vegetables and one-half cup of the sauce. Blend until a smooth
consistency is reached. Add puree to remaining sauce and stir to combine. Taste
and season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Drain linguini. Toss
linguini with the vegetable sauce.
Presentation: Divide the
linguini between 2 bowls, top with sauteed vegetables and arrange shrimp on
top. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves and a sprig of fresh thyme. Bon Appetit!
