Perry Ellis Hippie Hoodie in Boy Blue - Men's Spring 2009 FashionGentlemen, prepare your closets, as Luxury Experience Magazine brings you inside the tents for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York with a preview of the 2009 Spring/Summer Collections from designers Daniel Silver and Steven Cox of Duckie Brown and Creative Director John Crocco of Perry Ellis.

Autumn is in full swing; the trees have already metamorphosed from green to crimson, gold, and burnt sienna, and with the temperature dropping and the winds whipping, the few remaining leaves left on the trees will soon be gone. Although the calendar reads November, it is time to start looking ahead and planning your spring wardrobe. So, pour yourself something to drink and make yourself comfortable as Luxury Experience Magazine sets the fashion scene for Spring/Summer 2009.

What I love about attending the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week shows is seeing the diversity of the designers, from looking at their color palettes to their individual cuts of cloth, from cutting edge designs to more traditional, the shows offer great insight into the changeable world of fashion.

Duckie Brown Designers Daniel Silver and Steven CosOne of the shows that I attended was that of cutting edge designers Daniel Silver and Steven Cox of Duckie Brown who presented 25 looks in their Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. Their color palette for Spring/Summer 2009 features black, grey, iron, and chrome, with accents of white, electric blue, and yellow adding a blast of color.

Jackets had a main presence in the collection with models taking to the runway wearing square jackets, messenger jackets, bomber jackets, flight jackets, leather jackets, natural shoulder jackets, and stretch jackets. A few of the looks included a Black Square Jacket paired with Black Long Shorts, Black Stretch Body Suit, and Black Nylon Hood; Holes with Stripe Jacket paired with Striped Shorts, Black Stretch Body Suit, and Black Nylon Hood; Forest Embroidered Sweatshirt paired with Grey Circular Trouser, Black Stretch Body Suit; Electric Blue Long Tank paired with Black Wide Trouser, Black Stretch Body Suit, White Mesh Hood; and Herringbone Bomber Jacket paired with Yellow T-Shirt, Herringbone Wide Trouser, Black Stretch Body Suit, and Black Stretch Gloves.

Other highlights of the collection included stretch body suits, long tanks that grazed just below the knee, nylon hoods, long shorts, wide trousers, and circular trousers. Sweatshirts featured embroidery, there were Duke shirts, T-Shirts, a short sleeve stiff striped shirt, a striped mechanic shirt, raglan set in sleeve sweater, and striped mohair sweater. The looks were paired with black stretch gloves that figured prominently as accessories with a few caps thrown in for a jaunty air.

Perry Ellis Hippie Hoodie in Boy BlueAnother show that I attended was the Perry Ellis show, where John Crocco, Creative Director of Perry Ellis showed an impressive 54 looks for his Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. His first model took to the New York runway in a linen/silk lace-up hippie hoodie in boy blue paired with wool seersucker Perry pleat trouser in helium setting the seersucker theme for the show. A few other seersucker looks included a wool seersucker patchwork sport coat, cotton seersucker buffalo plaid camp shirt, cotton seersucker striped flared chino, and wool seersucker patchwork dress short.

Fabrics included linen, silk, leather, cotton, cotton twill, and worsted wool. The collection featured a sleeveless Henley, cotton diamond patchwork Bermudas, dress shorts, slim trousers, Perry pleat trousers, drawstring cargo pants, sandwashed jeans, flared jeans, and flared chinos, cardigan sweaters, hoodies, vests, mock necks, tanks, Bermudas, trunks with matching jackets, dress shirts, camp shirts, sport shirts, and signature polos. The Spring/Summer 2009 collection exhibited the clean lines that one has to come to expect from John Crocco and Perry Ellis.

His color palette for the season is a variation of blues: boy blue, sky blue, chambray, and navy; he mixes in neutrals of natural, helium, bright white, crimini, and khaki; and adds liberal dashes of gossamer pink, tendril green, purple haze, and burnt orange to keep the collection lively.
