Classics, RAD, d’Lemons, and more vehicles tempted our eyes at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance, sponsored by Hagerty, at Roger Sherwood Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Connecticut, however it was the car owners’ stories that captured our imaginations.

Over the course of two days, Saturday, October 23, and Sunday, October 24, 2021, we experienced an impressive amount of rare, vintage, and exceptional motorcars and motorcycles, as well as two interesting and informative seminars, Greenwich Concours 2021 – How to Score the Ultimate Barn Find moderated by John Nikas, with Tom Cotter, Wayne Carini, and Peter Kumar, and "Thinking Out Loud about the Future" moderated by John Nikas with Ralph Giles, Ed Welburn, and Jay Ward on Saturday.

In addition to the seminars on Saturday, there were many different classes that provided optimum enjoyment for all with their "Concours d’Lemons" which featured "wonderfully odd, truly unique, and unexpected cars…" "RADwood" which celebrated cars, trucks, and bikes from 1980-1999, and "Porschella by CarPark" which featured modified Porsches.

One of the many interesting vehicles was a 1993 LADA Niva 4×4 from Russia bearing the license plate "SPUTNIK" owned by Ian and Anna Burlingham and son Andrew. The Concours had several RADwood entries, where the owners dressed "period appropriate." We had the pleasure of catching up with Jay Pacillo and his son Jake Pacillo, co-owners of a 1990 Nissan Skyline, which was never sold in the United States. Their vehicle was imported from Japan and has a steering wheel on the right side. Rey Valderrama also brought his RADwood vehicle, a 1985 GT-s Twin Cam 16. He ordered parts from Japan, restored this beauty, and drove it from Boston to the show.

On Sunday, one of the many stunning Right Coast Rods at the show was a 1936 Ford Model 68, 3-Window Coupe decked out in Brandywine Pearl, owned by Robert Montalbine for the past 2 years. Interesting to note about this vehicle is that it won "Street Rod of the Year" in New Zealand. It is 1-of-1 in the country, has a custom frame, sits very low to the ground, and has three settings to allow it to be raised to drive, raised even higher to go over speed bumps, and has a gorgeous hand-crafted glass V-grill. Other great details are the art deco styling on the interior door panels and on the wheel design. Another knock-out Right Coast Rod was a 1927 Ford Tudor owned by Randy Bianchi with its tropical green body and bright orange accents.

In the Pre-War Classics a 1929 Hudson Series L Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton owned by Scott Spiro caught our attention. A bright yellow stunner with cream convertible top this was definitely a show highlight.

The Italian manufacturer Lancia was well represented by both Prewar and Postwar entries. In the Lancia Prewar class, a 1924 Lancia Lambda owned by Lawrence Auriana was a showstopper. Interesting to note about Lancia is that the company was founded in 1906 and became part of Fiat in 1969. The Lancia Lambda model was produced between 1922 until 1932. The 1924 was the second series of the Lambda and only 1,100 were built.

In the Lancia Postwar there was a 1985 Lancing Delta S4 Martini Racing Lombard vehicle emblazoned with sponsor and driver information – N (Neil) Wilson and H (Henri Paul) Toivonen and owned by Nikolay Stoytchev.

In the Postwar Sports Italian class, the "prancing horse" a "Ferrari red" 1961 Ferrari 250 TR1/61 bearing racing car number 10 owned by Peter Sachs caught our attention.

To celebrate Allard 75th Anniversary, there were an impressive number of Allard entries. Interesting to note is that the London-Based Allard Motor Company Limited built motorcars from 1945-1958. One of the show standouts included a lipstick red 1950 Allard K2 Coupe 6022 owned by Rich Taylor, and a silver with lipstick red interior 1951 Allard K2 convertible owned by Peter and Nica Bowman.

James Glickenhaus brought several fabulous "toys" including his 1967 "Baja Boot" listing Drivers Steve McQueen and Bud Elkins on the number 22 racing vehicle.

In the Contemporary Supercar class, he entered a dazzling 2021 Glickenhaus SCG (Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus) 004 – a V8 supercharged engine which fueled many a car lovers’ fantasies.

Another standout was the 2020 Glickenhaus SCG (Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus) 003S entered by HK Motorcars.

Over the course of the two-day festival of all things automotive, there was an impressive number of motorcars, motorcycles, and trucks, and even "Lightning McQueen" from the Pixar movie, Cars, was on hand for photo ops. Also new this year was a kid’s zone, with games and crafts for children, making the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance 2021 perfect for car afficionados as well as for families.
