Motorcycle enthusiasts would have loved the diverse offerings of exceptional and rare entries at the 2017 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance held on Sunday, June 4, 2017. Luxury Experience is proud to present a few of the many highlights from the show.

Britain

1936 AJS R10

We begin our exciting "world tour" in Britain with a look at the fabulous 1936 AJS R10 owned by Clive Doyle. A.J. Stevens & Co. Ltd. was a British manufacturer founded in 1909 and based in Wolverhampton, England. The company was sold to Matchless in 1931, although they used the name AJS on their motorcycles until 1969.

Another interesting entry was from the Veloce, Ltd. company, a sleek black and gold 1948 Velocette KTT racing motorcycle proudly bearing racing number 14, owned by Randy Hoffman. Founded in 1904 by John Goodman in Birmingham, United Kingdom, the company manufactured exceptional motorcycles until 1971. Heavily involved in racing during the 1920s through 1950s, they won 2 World Championships in 1949 and 1950. They produced the Velocette KTT between 1928 and 1949.

Germany

Traveling to Germany, check out the 1981 Kreidler 50cc Grand Prix Racer green and orange beauty with Shell and the number 2 on its side, owned by Ralph Stechow. Interesting to note about the impeccable pedigree of this motorcycle is that Stefan Dörflinger of Switzerland, the 1982 50cc Grand Prix World Champion, raced this incredible motorcycle. Stefan raced between 1973 and 1990 and won 4 consecutive FIM road racing world championships: 1982 and 1983 (50 cc) and 1984 and 1985 (80 cc). Kreidler has been manufacturing motorcycles since 1904.

Also nice was the attention getting bright red and yellow, high-speed sports-tourer, the 1990 BMW K1 owned by Philip E. Richter. BMW (Bayersiche Motored Werke AG) founded in Munich, Germany in 1916 has been producing excellence for more than 101 years. They produced the BMW K1 from 1988 until 1993. Emphasis on high-speed, this beauty has a top speed of 150 mph (240 km/h).

Ciao Bella! Moving on to Italy, get ready to drool over these motorcycles from the Italian company, Moto Guzzi founded in Genoa in 1921, a 1952 Moto Guzzi Falcone Sport owned by Buzz Kanter, and a 1976 Moto Guzzi 850 LeMans superbike owned by Peter Sobran.

Another Italian beauty was owner Robert B. Machinist’s bright orange with black pin-striping 1980 Laverda JOTA whose license plate proudly proclaims "Roma." Based in Breganze, Italy, Francesco Laverda founded Moto Laverda in 1949, and produced their first motorcycle in 1950. Interesting to note is that the Laverda Jota 1000 cc has a top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h). Since 2004, the company has been a part of the Piaggio Group.

What made the attractive red, white, and blue Italian-made 1984 Ducati TT1 owned by Ralph Stechow so rare is that it is the only surviving 1984 Factory Endurance Racer out of the original three built. Ducati, based in Borgo Panigale, Italy has been manufacturing motorcycles since 1926.

Another outstanding Italian entry was the very exclusive and very expensive 2006 MV Augusta F4CC owned by Dr. Masis Yeterian, Jr. for the past 6 years. He explained that there are only 100 of these motorcycles worldwide. Passionate about riding, he also owns other MV Augusta motorcycles and a Ducati. For those unfamiliar with MV Augusta, the company was founded by Giovanni Augusta in 1945 in Varese, Italy.

Japan

We end our tour in Japan with the 1997 Honda Dream 50 CB50v (AC15) owned by David Miller. The information supplied at the show stated that is an "original, unrestored example built in limited numbers by Honda Racing Corporation solely for the Japanese market with full road gear to commemorate their first Grand Prix racer, the 50cc 1962 RC110 and the 1962 CR110 Club Racer. Extremely rare in the USA as it was not officially imported, it is a cult collector bike."
