Dana, thanks for taking time to speak with Luxury Experience.

I first interviewed you back in 2013, and since then, you have added the title of "mama" to your impressive credentials with the birth of your son Aidan in September 2016.

You now have another "baby" – your own record label, Get Along Records, a huge milestone in your career. How does it feel to take control of your music?

DF

It feels funny, very challenging, lots of work, very rewarding, the work is getting done when its supposed to get done. The record label I worked with was great, but I was one of many, so it’s nice to be in the driver’s seat.

LE

I love the new release, Love Loves On; its filled with great songs and has rays of sunshine and hope, which is also something new for you as your past work has focused on a lot of darkness. How did the change come about?

DF

The difference came from dealing with more family deaths, and my son coming along. When I found out I was pregnant, I thought this was not the best timing in the world, but it turned out to be fabulous. Hope comes from Aidan.

Ready To Rise was the original name I was thinking of for the new album. When I was in the studio to record the song Love Lives On, which I had waited to do as it was too close to me, I had just lost my mom, my producer suggested that Love Lives On be the name of the album.

Love lives on, life goes on, Aidan was a gift for me, hope after loss. As the saying goes when one door closes another door opens.

Both songs are amazing but with different emotions. Ready To Rise is about the fight to go on, whereas Love Lives On is gentler and more about acceptance and moving forward.

You have had lots of heartaches through the years, and I am so happy that you have come through that period, and have found peace, you deserve it.

You just returned from a European tour, and your new tour begins on May 18, 2018 in Fairfield, Connecticut at The Warehouse, which coincides with the release of Love Lives On.

What can audiences expect at the show?

DF

The horn section will be there! We did a pre-album European tour and will now do a US/European/Canadian tour to promote the new album, Love Lives On.

That’s very exciting! Luxury Experience cannot wait to attend your show at The Warehouse and hear the new songs performed live.

A new release, Love Lives On, your own record label, Get Along Records, and a handsome son who will soon turn 2 and is already an accomplished air traveler. What’s next?

DF

Sleep, I hope! You know I think this year will be the first year I have toured this heavily. Like jumping through time. It will be a very busy year, but I will take time off at the holidays. I used to spend it with my kitties, now I spend it with my son, my husband, and my kitties.
