We had a wonderful stay at the 90-room luxury boutique Southampton Inn nestled on 5 stunning acres in the heart of Southampton, New York. The Southampton Inn has all the bells and whistles that one could want for a stay in the fabled Hamptons. The Inn boasts sumptuously appointed guestrooms, an excellent restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, croquet on the immaculate lawn, and much more. Located within walking distance of a movie theater, boutique shops, upscale restaurants, museums, cultural and historical venues, as well as Coopers Beach, the Southampton Inn is a charming and comfortable respite in The Hamptons in any season.
Bells and whistles for our stay at the Southampton Inn in early March 2020 began in our sumptuous king guestroom with an ever-so-comfortable Tempur-Pedic® bed dressed in a pristine luxurious down comforter, ivory linens, a plethora of pillows, attractive decorator pillows in yellow and blue, with a velvet bench placed at the end ofthe bed. Marine blue wicker nightstands with large blue and white pottery lamps flanked the bed and provided the perfect amount of light for bedtime reading. A large gray bureau opposite the bed held a large flatscreen television.
A comfortable sleep sofa with large decorative pillows placed in front of a sunny window and a chair flanked a glass, chrome, and acrylic coffee table, and created a perfect place to curl up with a book from the Inn's extensive collection. Anacrylic desk with blue and white lamp provided an optimum workspace or to write a postcard to family and friends, and there was a mini refrigerator in the closet. Vintage photographs and a large, round gold mirror graced the walls and added to the overall Hamptons charm and chic ambience. The attractive bathroom featured a combination tub and shower, a plethora of Gilchrist & Soames amenities as well as a hairdryer.
The Inn has a wonderful restaurant named Claude's where we had an excellent dinner. The attractive restaurant features a glamourous ivory piano for live music on the weekends, tables nautically dressed in dark blue linens and white napkins, and owner Dede Gotthelf's beautiful paintings grace the walls. The ambience is at once comfortable and the epitome of Hamptons chic.
Two of the many highlights of our dinner included a starter of Eggplant Rollatini, which was thinly sliced eggplant, lightly breaded, covered in ricotta, herbs and spinach, rolled and baked in a rich tomato sauce, and garnished with microgreens, and an entrée of a Double Cut Veal Chop topped with truffle butter, and accompanied by rosemary roasted potatoes, sautéed brussels sprouts, haricot verts, carrots, yellow squash, and zucchini.

Completing the luxurious amenities at the Southampton Inn include a large outdoor in-season swimming pool, outdoor tennis and shuffleboard court, croquet on the lawn, games room, bicycles, Claude's Art Gallery, and a library with fireplace and comfortable sitting areas with bookcases filled with an extensive collection of books and games for guests' enjoyment. Summertime guests will especially enjoy the complimentary shuttle to nearby Cooper's Beach. Although considered a summer playground, The Hamptons are perfect in any season, and so is the Southampton Inn.
