The 34-story, 1,176-room and suite Mohegan
Sun Hotel located at the Mohegan
Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut has it all; luxury
accommodations, Elemis
Spa and Salon, a diverse selection of gourmet and casual restaurants,
swimming
pool, and upscale shopping. Combined with 3 casinos, 10,000 square-foot
arena,
Cabaret Theatre, and Wolf Den for entertainment, it is more than a
hotel, it is
a destination for leisure travelers as well as for business conferences.
Edward and I stayed at the Mohegan Sun in April 2010, where
attentive service began in the attractive VIP check-in room, the Aquai, which
has feathers embedded in the glass doors to set the ambience. The word aquai means welcome in the Mohegan
language, and we were welcomed with a glass of champagne and a fruit and cheese
plate.

Mohegan Sun
Our spacious guest room featured a king bed dressed with a
white coverlet, taupe throw, navy bolster, and white shams trimmed with navy,
dramatic against the Art Deco wood headboard. Nightstands held a telephone as
well a Zenith clock radio.
Two matching navy velvet chairs flanked the desk that held a
nice selection of area magazines, placed in a corner of the room in front of
the window, and a comfortable upholstered checked chair with matching ottoman
beckoned from the opposite corner of the room. A large round mirror hung over
the desk, colorful paintings graced the walls and a philodendron plant on a
round table near the window added interest to the room.

Guest Room
In-room amenities included complimentary hi-speed Internet
access, coffeemaker with assorted teas and coffees set on an Art Deco chest,
mini-bar, a large Panasonic television, and complimentary newspapers delivered
to our door each morning. Amenities continued in the closet, which held an
iron, ironing board, and a safe.
The spacious marble bathroom featured beautifully crafted
small tiles on the wall surrounding the large mirror hung over the wide vanity that
reflected nature done in indigo and green with copper and gold stripes, and a
decorative tile design on the floor. The room had a combination shower and tub,
and a separate enclosed toilet. Bathroom amenities included a shaving mirror,
hairdryer, and a selection of Archives toiletries.

Mohegan Sun Lobby
We made the most of our hotel stay shopping in the many
upscale stores at the Mohegan Sun, and strolled the property to admire the many
sculptures and elements that reflect the Mohegan Tribe culture, including the dramatic
55-foot Taughannick Falls. We also tried
our luck at the Casino of the Earth,
the Casino of the Sky, and the Casino of the Wind, because as the
saying goes, the third try is the charm.

Casino of the Earth / Wolf Den
The property has an excellent selection of dining options
that range from casual to fine dining. We had a wonderful dinner at Michael Jordan's Steak House
where the contemporary décor complements the stylish presentations of the
cuisine.

Michael Jordan's Restaurant
One of the many highlights of our dinner included the
Lobster Chowder, which was a rich lobster stock and cream base enhanced with
generous portions of lobster meat. Another highlight was definitely The Cowboy,
which was a 21-ounce USDA prime aged cut topped with a watercress and
horseradish crust, garnished with caramelized red onions, and set on a pool of
Mexican chocolate sauce.

The Cowboy with Horseradish Crust
Whether you are looking for a night or weekend on the town,
love to shop, want to indulge in Spa treatments, relax by the pool, dine in
wonderful restaurants, take in a world-class concert or sporting event, or
share the passion of gaming, the Mohegan Sun has something for everyone.
