Yigal Azrouël of Yigal, Shaun Kearney of Cynthia Steffe, and Justin Timberlake, Johan Lindeberg, Marcella Lindeberg, and Trace Ayala of William Rast took a dark and tough chic approach to their collections for Fall and Winter 2009 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
For Fall and Winter 2009, Yigal Azrouël of Yigal has a "dark and romantic" theme for his collection of 28 looks that features a neutral color palette of jet, heather grey, putty, camouflage. carbon, ivory, ivy, and bone, with a spark of color using cardinal and grape; and fabrics of jacquard silk faille, chiffon jersey, crepe, cotton, marled wool jersey, stretch denim, stretch wool, silk mousseline, taffeta, leather, and mink.
Oversized blanket sweaters, oversized coats, and stovepipe jeans are featured in his collection, as well as asymmetric and peplum looks, which are also shown by several of the designers this season. A few highlights of his sweater and coat collection include: a Printed Boiled Wool Blanket Coat paired with Jet Tarnished Metal Fringe Top, Jet Washed Cotton Leather Stovepipe Jeans; Heather Grey Basket Weave Cardigan paired with Heather Grey Raw Drape Tank, Ivy Boiled Wool Jersey Suspended Trouser, and Pinstripe Silk Viscose Ombre Scarf; and Heather Grey Mink and Wool Knit Vest paired with Heather Grey Wool Angora Jersey Top and Jet Washed Cotton Leather Stovepipe Jeans.
A few of the highlights of his dress collection include: Ivory Double Faced Stretch Wool Flange Collar Dress; Jet Asymmetrical Peplum Dress; and Jet/Cardinal Taffeta Embroidered Tulle Dress with Jet Asymmetric Pinstudded Leather Belt.
Creative Director Shaun Kearney of Cynthia Steffe showed a collection of 46 looks for Fall 2009 with a theme of "Tough and Sweet. Rock and Roll Chic." He used a color palette of black, ivory, champagne, aubergine, hunter, plum, anthracite, charcoal, mahogany, mushroom, deep crimson, flame red, claret, gold, liquid bronze, and liquid onyx for his fabrics of leather, satin, velvet, taffeta, faux fur, seasonless gabardine, corduroy, silk, crepe de chine, twill, charmeuse, silk chiffon, and seasonless wool for his collection.
A few of the highlights of his coat collection included: a Bronzed Leather Crop Jacket over Forest Print Silk Chiffon Top and Mushroom Seasonless Gabardine Split Skirt; Ivory Feathered Faux Fur Coat and Mahogany Leather Side Snap Pant; Gold Bouclé Sculpted Coat; and Flame Red Distressed Satin Drawstring Jacket and Skirt.

Highlights of his skirts and dresses in the collection include: a Hunter Silk Interlock Turtleneck and Leather Skirt; Plum Croc Embossed Faux Fur Vest with Slate Seasonless Gabardine Dress; Black Crushed Velvet Dress with Leather Yoke; and Engineered Peacock Print Silk Charmeuse Gown.

The creative team of Justin Timberlake, Johan Lindeberg, Marcella Lindeberg, and Trace Ayala of William Rast selected a theme of "New America" as the theme for their Fall Winter 2009 Men and Women's Collection.

Models strolled the runway of the Bryant Park Tent for the last show of the evening with mood setting music by Justin Timberlake and DJ Ani wearing a variation of "American Denim Heritage and Biker Culture ... presented in a Contemporary Context."

Although indigo denim and washes was the focus of the collection, with looks updated with embellishments of appliqués, embroidery, patch working, sequins, beading, and fringe, leather was also featured in the William Rast Collection. Jacket sleeves were studded, and appliqués appeared on jacket lapels and shoulders of blouses.

A few collection highlights included their black and white American flag T-shirt paired with patch work jeans; a plaid studded shirt paired with distressed side studded jeans; black jeans with multiple zippers; studded biker jackets paired with distressed patch work jeans; and embellished denim mini-skirts. Among the many celebrities spotted in the front row at the packed house William Rast show included Miss USA Crystal Stewart, Nicky and Paris Hilton, Anna Wintour of Vogue.
