 As the days grow longer, and
the snow starts melting, our thoughts naturally turn to thoughts of spring and
some of the gorgeous Spring Summer 2011 Collections from the design
houses of Tibi, Toni
Francesc, and Luca Luca that we saw on the
runways during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at
Lincoln Center in New York.
Ami Smilovic, founder and designer of the New York based company Tibi, stated,
"Spring is about beauty and classics with a thoroughly modern twist and styles
that are simple with ease." Her spring 2011 Collection featured 36 looks
featuring clean lines, and feminine good looks.

She blended a neutral color
palette of white, cream, camel, tobacco, and black, enlivened with cornhusk,
fennel, fire, purple, floral prints, paisleys, and leopard print elegantly
working her magic with suede, crochets, linens, silks, and chiffons.

Beginning with her opening
look, a Camel Suede Bow Tie Coat paired with a Leather Loafer Wedge, to
her grand finale look of a Cloister Beaded Sleeveless Jacket in Cream and
Cloister Effortless Long Wide Leg Silk Culotted Jumpsuit in Cream paired
with a Strappy Flat, Ami Smilovic demonstrated why she is a fashion powerhouse.

included a Camel Suede Tier Coat with Oversized Pockets, Floral Laser Cut
Cropped Tank in White, Floral Laser Cut Skirt in White; a Basketweave
Drop Waist Funnel Coat in Fire; a Leopard Printed Crepe Car Coat with
Leather Trim; and Laser Cut Leather Appliqué Car Coat.

Dress looks included a Basketweave
Sleeveless Dress with Circle Skirt; Floral Laser Cut Skirted Dress in
Fennel; and Cloister Beaded Chiffon Gown in Cream. A few skirt
highlights included a Crochet Tape Yarn Sweater, Lillian Silk Cami, and Crochet Tape Yarn Circle
Skirt; and Silk Cornhusk Cami with Silk Cornhusk Pleated Long Skirt.
Pant highlights included a Baroque Beaded Appliqué Silk Tunic in Cream,
Baroque Tailored Dupioni Cropped Flare Pant in Cream; and Mid Calf Wide
Leg Culotted Silk Jumpsuit.

Spanish Designer Toni Francesc, the talent behind the Toni
Francesc design house, "transfers a forest-based concept to a city
environment with "Urban Forest" - Spring/Summer 2011. Wood becomes the
symbol of this collection ... "Urban Forest" is a collection that is just as
versatile as wood itself. In this respect, depending on its treatment, wood can
present its most natural dimension, as witnessed in tree bark, or its most
elaborate side, including carved and moulded wooden forms. The Collection's
clothing items present a series of rough and enveloping forms combined with
other cleaner volumes and straight, milder lines."

Utilizing a neutral color
palette sparked with forest shades of green, blue, and coral, the collection of
coats, pants, skirts, and dresses was inspired. Of particular interest was Toni
Francesc's adroit use of incorporating wood elements into his designs that
included a halter dress with a wood necklace as the focal point, and as well as
a gown, along with wood jewelry accessories and interesting wood handbags.

Look for soft and feminine
looks from Toni Francesc for Spring 2011 with crisscross straps on bodices as
well as on backs, ruching, soft draping, one-shoulder, high-waisted pants, and
lots of leg with his little mini-dresses.

Raul Melgoza, Creative
Director for New York based Luca Luca showed
30 looks for his Spring 2011 Collection featuring feminine and flirty designs.
His color palette made the most of clean neutrals of white and grey, sparked
with navy, coral, red, yellow, blue, pink, gold, and silver, that made
sensational use of his fabrics of silk and silk organza, satin faced silk
chiffon, silk crepe, cotton gauze, cotton brocade, linens, lace, and taffeta.

A few of the highlights of
his gown collection included a Coral/Grey Feathered Print Open Back Halter
Gown with a deep plunging vee back and ruffled collar; Metallic Silver
Lace Gown with Open Back Cape; and Gold/Silver Feathered Print Halter
Gown with Multi-Panel Overlays.

Cocktail dresses included a White
Silk Crepe Cocktail Dress with Faggoting Detail; Navy Blue Washed Silk

Rounding out the collection,
there were coats, pants, skirts, dresses, and shorts looks. A few of the
highlights included a White Cotton Burnout Coat, Printed Silk Chiffon Top
and White Cotton Burnout Shorts; Grey Silk Jacket with Faggoting Detail,
Navy/White Triangle Print Silk Peplum Shorts; White Silk Crepe Cape with
Straight Silk Cotton Brocade Pant; and Pink Silk Linen Jacquard
Tailored Jacket with Sleeveless Sculpted Dress.
