Robb Report magazine's Luxury on Greenwich Harbor, Greenwich, Connecticut, USA.
Greenwich, Connecticut that legendary bastion of wealth was the perfect setting for the Robb Report www.robbreport.com magazine’s “Luxury on Greenwich Harbor”, held on Sunday, September 12, 2004, at the luxurious Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel, and of course, Luxury Experience was there.
Edward F. Nesta and his Phantom
It was a memorable afternoon featuring some of the finest items in the world. There were Rolls-Royce Phantoms, as well as an Aston Martin DB9, a Maserati, a Ferrari 612, and a Bentley Continental GT with a top speed of 198 mph, and even tigers, oh my! Yes, there really was a 5½-month old baby tiger cub, brought by Andrew Simmons Wildlife Programs, which I had to have my picture taken with. Edward Nesta and I were euphoric with the Rolls-Royce Phantom, so that when Terrence Easton of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars NA, LLC asked if Edward would like to test-drive the car, he readily agreed! (Read about his experience in our Events section - Driving a Rolls Royce Phantom.)
Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Jaeger-LeCoultre, A. Lange & Sohne and Betteridge Jewelers encouraged guests to try on their jewelry since as we all know, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend”, along with several other pieces of well-appointed accessories.
 Blue Diamond Salon
Speaking of a girl’s best friend, Marine Max teamed up Ferretti Group USA to show their 112’ yacht, the Blue Diamond. This Custom 112’ yacht beckoned to all, with its inviting sleek lines, and I have to admit that after I toured this yacht, I immediately fell in love. (Read my article on the Blue Diamond, which I wrote about in a previous edition, in our Events section.)
Johnnie Walker Blue Label held court in the Presidential Suite of the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel where lucky guests could sample this smooth and silky whiskey, with a touch of honey and spice. If that wasn’t extravagant enough you could also have a manicure, pedicure or massage while enjoying Johnnie Walker Blue Label, perfectly decadent.
James Bond enthusiasts take notice – Cierge, a line from SONY, brought their Qualia 016, a super-small digital camera, packed in its own attaché case, with an assortment of lens, which evoked memories of James Bond. I felt like “Miss Moneypenny” as I stealthily took pictures at the party.
Of course, every party needs a few canapés and drinks, and the hotel provided an enticing array of tempting goodies passed around on trays by uniformed wait staff. As for drinks, Beringer Vineyards uncorked a selection of their wines and Hennessey Richard brought their cognac, smooth and inviting, which the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel paired with luscious chocolate pecan bars, which really enhanced the pleasure of both. Ending on a sweet note, it was an enchanting day.
