Every year in March The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, (AAHS), http://www.stardiamondaward.com/, honors deserving professionals from the around the world with their coveted Star Diamond Awards in Berlin, Germany. The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences awards such celebrated professionals as hoteliers, chefs, designers, luxury automobile makers, and chinaware producers, as well as hotels, airlines, travel agencies, and mineral waters.
This year, the event was held on March 12, 2005 at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, http://www.hotel-adlon.de/ and it was a certainly a night to remember, not only for the Star Diamond Award winners, but for the guests attending this spectacular gala as well. Mr. Joseph Cinque, President of The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, talk show host Mr. Bill Boggs, of Bill Boggs Productions, http://www.talkshowconfidential.com/ along with the actor, Mr. Tony Lo Bianco, Miss USA 2004 Shandi Finnessey and Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins, provided sophisticated style and humor in honoring each of the award winners. Miss USA and Miss Universe also graciously posed beside many of the guests who clamored to have their pictures taken with the two statuesque beauties.
The audience was treated to an exciting evening of entertainment by the international singer Waed from Saudi Arabia followed by performances by the talented group Broadway Sings, http://www.broadwaysings.com/, composed of Charles Bergell, Lisa Capps, Don Brewer, Kimilee Bryant, Erick Buckley, Rosa Curry, Jason Bernard, Christeena Michelle Riggs, Mark Hartman, and Sara Brians, who came direct from the Broadway stages in New York, United States, and performed the song “Seasons of Love” from the hit play, Rent, at the cocktail reception, followed by performances during the award ceremony where they sang, danced and thrilled the audience with many numbers from their hit Broadway plays, including songs from Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, 42nd Street, A Chorus Line, On the Town, and Kiss Me Kate.
The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences award-winning chefs, Mr. Joël Robuchon, Mr. David Burke, Mr. Johann Lafer, Mr. Edwin Kats, and Mr. Rainer Sigg created the special 5-course gala dinner where the “menu” was printed on a Villeroy & Boch china plate. This year the AAHS selected Mr. Phillippe Stark as the “Finest Designer worldwide”. Mr. Robert Burns, Former President of Regent Hotels was awarded a “Lifetime Achievement.” Mr. George Schwab was “Selected for his years of devotion to The American Academy.” Mr. Gordon Butch Stewart was “Selected as one of the finest Entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry.” Mr. Henry Schielein, of The Balboa Bay Club, was “Selected as the finest Hotelier worldwide.” Mr. Joël Robuchon, of the Atelier Paris, Macao, Tokyo, Monte Carlo and Las Vegas, was “Selected as the finest chef worldwide.” Mr. David Burke, of davidburke & donatella in New York, along with Mr. Johann Lafer of Johann Lafer Castle in Stromburg, Germany, Mr. Edwin Kats of La Rive, Inter-Continental Amstel, Amsterdam, Netherlands and Mr. Rainer Sigg from the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin were all “Selected as the one finest chefs worldwide.” American Airlines was once again “Selected as one of the finest airlines worldwide.” Maybach was “Selected for redesigning the standards in the luxury automotive industry worldwide.” Red Travel was “Selected as one of the most exclusive and glamorous travel experiences worldwide.” Jet Aviation was “Selected as one of the finest private airlines worldwide.” Villeroy & Boch was “Selected as the finest chinaware producer worldwide,” and S. Pellegrino was “Selected as the finest mineral water in the world.”
